Ashley Doherty had a troubling run on Married At First Sight season 3 back in 2015, but here’s how Ashley has made the most of her journey since the downfall of her reality television marriage. Originally perceived as a villain, Ashley was misunderstood by many fans in the fallout of her disastrous match on Married At First Sight, but fans came around to Ashley’s perspective in the months after her divorce. From voicing her frustration with the Married At First Sight producers to starting a new family, this is everything Ashley’s been up to since her days as a reality star.

Ashley made her Married At First Sight debut in season 3 of the hit dating series, which premiered on December 1, 2015. Ashley was part of season 3’s crew of hopeful romantics from Atlanta, Georgia. At the time, Ashley was 30 years old and a nursing student. The relationship experts matched Ashley with David Norton, a 30-year-old software account executive. Immediately, Ashley was let down by David’s appearance. Although she was able to move on from her tepid attraction to her husband, the pair maintained an uneasy dynamic. In the middle of season 3, Ashley claimed that she caught David cheating during Married At First Sight, which only made their happily ever after that much more unrealistic. Although David expressed his desire to continue their marriage on Decision Day, Ashley was firm in her request for a divorce.

After Married At First Sight, Ashley made a revelation that changed her and the show’s fans’ views on the alum’s failed marriage with David. In February 2016, In Touch shared a police report from 2007, which detailed David’s violent past. According to the report, David became very possessive of his former girlfriend after they moved in together. The report alleged, “[David] followed her from room to room, shouting, and then grabbed her before she pushed him away.” When Ashley discovered the seriousness of David’s misdemeanors, she was angry at Married At First Sight producers for not letting her know about the full report. Only days after the couple’s dramatic Decision Day, Ashley’s mother spoke out about how the show hid the truth from her daughter. Ashley’s mother said, “[Ashley] feels duped… She feels like she was let down in a big way because they told her they do background checks.”

Although Ashley might not ever get over her Married At First Sight experience, she went on to receive all of the things she didn’t get out of her brief marriage to David. According to her LinkedIn, Ashley graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2017. Since 2018, Ashley has been working as a registered nurse at Piedmont Healthcare. On December 31, 2019, Ashley shared a photo from her wedding with her new husband, who she sees as a step up from her Married At First Sight ex, David. Ashley changed her last name in her Instagram bio, which now reads, “Ashley-Patrice Alvarez.” On November 25, 2020, Ashley announced that she was pregnant. On April 15, Ashley shared a photo of her newborn baby, Julian Louis Alvarez. For the past few months, Ashley’s Instagram has been overflowing with pictures of her baby boy.

Ashley had a rocky journey from the altar to Decision Day in Married At First Sight season 3, but she didn’t let that experience deter her from pursuing everything she wanted. With her nursing career established and a husband and baby waiting for her at home, Ashley appears to have it all. Although this surely isn’t the dating show’s intention, Ashley ended up proving that getting Married At First Sight just doesn’t work out for everyone.
