Warning! Spoilers ahead for Amazing Spider-Man #78.BEY

In a new tie-in issue to Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-Man, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing finally get the genuine spotlight they never received from Netflix as the Daughters of the Dragon. While they both had prominent roles in Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders series on the streaming platform, the pair had barely begun to become partners before the MCU shows were all canceled (despite hopes for a spin-off series featuring the two formidable fighters). As a consolation, Misty and Colleen get the chance to shine in this brand new one-shot comic.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In previous Marvel Comics, Misty and Colleen have worked together as private detectives while also being consistent allies to Heroes for Hire Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Known as the Daughters of the Dragon, the two equally powerful yet respectively unique women are forces to be reckoned with, and their dynamic appearances in the various Marvel Netflix shows were very well received. Currently, Misty and Colleen have been contracted by the Beyond Corporation to help train Ben Reilly, their new corporate-backed Spider-Man.

Amazing Spider-Man #78.BEY from Jed MacKay and Eleonora Carlini begins with the Daughters putting Spider-Man through a simulated haunted mansion full of murderous Avengers they’ve created in a “pocket battlefield.” However, they inadvertently use that same training simulation on themselves when Beyond sends the duo to take on a robot monster they’ve codenamed Obsidian Star. Accidentally activating it, their problems double as the robot’s power begins amplifying the simulation, making it even more dangerous. However, facing the murder mansion provides the Daughters of the Dragon the perfect time to shine, taking on the evil Avengers and robot using an entire arsenal of high-tech gear.

Eventually, the Daughters are able to defeat Obsidian Star and break out of the pocket battlefield using a super dangerous antimatter bomb. However, while Beyond is hoping that they return with the robot monster’s valuable power source, Misty and Colleen claim that they didn’t find anything. In truth, they did find the power source but have given it to Monica Rambeau’s Spectrum instead, seeing as how they’ve been secretly gathering all the data they can for her on the corporation and its less than altruistic goals, epically operating as double agents.

While fighting a robot monster and a murderous Avengers mansion simultaneously is pretty cool, doing that while also working to bring down a corrupt corporation in secret is even cooler for the Daughters of the Dragon. Unfortunately, a series starring Misty Knight and Colleen Wing seems doubtful at this point but at least they’re getting the spotlight they deserve in this new one-shot as well as in the continuing issues of Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man.
