Thanos would be proud of one Marvel fan’s 3D printed version of the Infinity Gauntlet. It’s the super-weapon that became an instant icon in Avengers: Infinity War, ultimately granting Thanos the power to turn half the universe to dust with the snap of his fingers. Toy versions and unique fan art exist of Thanos’ world-destroying armored glove, complete with the six Infinity Stones. But impressive new attempts to create the weapon continue to come out, most recently with one particular fan.

One of the best replicas of the Infinity Gauntlet yet has surfaced online, thanks to the power of 3D printing technology. After revealing his large, detailed final creation, an Avengers fan explained how his edition of the gauntlet came to be with the help of a 3D printer.

As you can see on the Reddit thread started by the user known as “BoltSnapBolt217”, his Infinity Gauntlet can be worn by pretty much anyone with long-enough arms – but is virtually scaled perfectly to fit Thanos if he were to appear in real life. He later ran a sort of impromptu “AMA” with fellow fans, explaining that he printed the gauntlet using the Creality CR-10 3D printer. He also credited Thingiverse user “HappyMoon” for designing the large 3D models he used to craft the gauntlet, which he says he printed and painted himself.

The fan’s Infinity Gauntlet replica also features LED lights under all the Infinity Stones to make them glow. He estimated that the materials cost less than $20 and that it took “a few days” to print the parts plus a few more to paint them. He used PLA 3D printing material to create the molds, and cast the gauntlet using epoxy resin and food coloring. In addition, he said his version of the gauntlet is not for sale.

However, this 3D printed edition of the Infinity Gauntlet probably could fetch a nice profit for the fan on top of the cost of the parts. It doesn’t look any worse than Marvel Legends’ life-sized Infinity Gauntlet, which offered the best look yet at the weapon before the movie and sold out quickly before going on display at Toy Fair. If it takes less than a week to create one, perhaps more detailed replica gauntlets would be a worthy endeavor for him.

Some fans may be disappointed that they can’t get their hands on (or in) this particular version of the Infinity Gauntlet. But as the fan pointed out, the 3D models already exist out there, so anyone with access to a 3D printer would have a chance to create their own. That may be more worthwhile and rewarding than simply buying a copy.
