Warning! Spoilers ahead for Moon Knight #6

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ Moon Knight, it’s been teased that Marc Spector may soon team up with the Hunter’s Moon, Khonshu’s other Moon Knight. While the two met in previous issues of Marvel’s new series, Marc did not get along with the Hunter’s Moon (real name Dr. Badr). While Spector has recently rejected Khonshu, Badr is still a devoted servant who finds Spector’s current existence as a godless rogue priest distasteful. However, Dr. Badr can’t deny their bond under Khonshu, seemingly teasing an epic team-up of Moon Knights that may soon be in the cards.

Moon Knight #6 comes from writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio. In the previous issue, readers saw Marc Spector being beaten by Zodiac who bombed Moon Knight’s Midnight Mission. Thankfully, Moon Knight has allies such as his vampire assistant Reese who immediately called upon the Hunter’s Moon for help, believing him to be Marc’s best chance at survival. As such, the Hunter’s Moon caught Zodiac by surprise and forced him to retreat, leaving Badr alone with an unconscious Spector.

Much to Moon Knight’s surprise, Marc wakes up to find Badr bandaging several of his wounds. As Badr continues healing Marc, he reveals his origins to Moon Knight and tells him about his lifelong struggle to have a spiritual connection until he was saved from death and resurrected by Khonshu (just like Marc was). Badr found a divine purpose for the first time in his life as Hunter’s Moon which Marc has since thrown away (resulting in Badr’s dislike of Spector). However, Badr acknowledges their shared connection through the moon god. Combined with his recently realigned perspectives about Marc and his allies, it seems as though a partnership between the Fists of Khonshu could be on the horizon.

It seems as though the biggest obstacle between Marc and Badr becoming friends is Khonshu himself. While Marc grew tired of being the moon god’s pawn (especially during Khonshu’s recent attempt to steal the Avengers’ powers), it does seem as though Khonshu wants his primary Fist to return to the fold, calling out to Marc repeatedly in this latest issue. While it might not result in Marc reconnecting and serving his god once more, it does seem as though a new reckoning with Khonshu will soon be at hand. Likewise, it’s possible the Hunter’s Moon could become involved, seeing as how he’s still a devoted servant and Fist of Khonshu.

In any case, a team-up of Moon Knights in the near future would certainly be impressive given their shared tactics and brutality. Beyond Marc eventually needing to deal with Khonshu, Zodiac is still out there and will no doubt return to torment Spector further. While they may not ever be friends, perhaps Moon Knight and Hunter’s Moon can become allies to take him down? Fans will just have to wait and see as Marvel’s new Moon Knight series continues.
