Despite ongoing demand for a 2022 content roadmap, Marvel’s Avengers has instead unveiled another Marvel Cinematic Universe outfit for Iron Man. Crystal Dynamics’ superhero action game allows players to take control of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, either through a single-player story mode or cooperative multiplayer missions. Marvel’s Avengers controversy and fan outrage has sprung up consistently since the game’s rocky launch in September 2020, with many gamers expecting publisher Square Enix to end support in the near future.

Gamers praised Marvel’s Avengers upon release for its single-player storyline and fun roster of characters, with each of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes possessing unique abilities and combat styles. However, the game was also criticized for its technical issues, repetitive endgame content and microtransaction system. A year of post-launch support failed to substantially improve Marvel’s Avengers, with the game’s most recent piece of new content arriving on November 30, 2022. Since then Crystal Dynamics has failed to detail any new content, leading many to believe that the game is being shut down, though a new 2022 content roadmap for Marvel’s Avengers was teased back in December.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A new suit of armor for Iron Man, based on the Mark 42 from the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Iron Man 3, was recently revealed by Marvel’s Avengers on Twitter. The faithful recreation of the golden suit will be available in Shipments, which are earned through gameplay rather than purchased with real money, but many fans are not celebrating the new cosmetic. Twitter users like Stephen, KidKinobi and Justin express frustration that Crystal Dynamics is consistently releasing new MCU skins and not a roadmap of actual content. Many other users seem to believe that support of the game will soon end, prompting the developer to release all of the skins they have created.

After more than two months since the last update, many Marvel’s Avengers players seem to believe that Crystal Dynamics is ending development. However, a recent Marvel’s Avengers She-Hulk DLC leak suggests that at least one more superhero will be added to the game’s roster. Game files discovered by fans apparently contain voice lines and combat moves hinting at a playable version of Jennifer Walters’ incredible green alter ego. Rumors suggest that voice actress Krizia Bajos will portray She-Hulk when she is added to the game, and a social media response from Bajos may have accidentally confirmed the connection. Whether or not She-Hulk releases, or acts as the game’s final piece of new content, remains to be seen.

Marvel’s Avengers’ new Mark 42 Iron Man armor, inspired by Iron Man 3, is an extremely accurate recreation of a beloved Tony Stark design. Despite delivering fans’ wishes for more MCU costumes in Marvel’s Avengers Shipments, the cosmetic seems to be a slap in the face for gamers waiting for a 2022 roadmap. With MCU skins releasing at a rapid pace and the 2022 roadmap still a mystery, its seems that Marvel’s Avengers may be nearing its endgame.
