The developers behind Marvel’s Avengers are continuing to build on the game’s collection of MCU-based character skins by releasing Thor’s gladiator suit from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarök. In the Taika Waititi-directed third installment of Thor’s solo big-screen series, the God of Thunder finds himself powerless and marooned on the garbage-filled world of Sakaar, where he’s forced into a gladiator-style contest by the malevolent Grandmaster. His opponent in this battle is none other than the Hulk, who pummels the helpless god before helping Thor reclaim Asgard from his sister, the death goddess Helga.

Both Thor and Hulk are primary playable characters in Marvel’s Avengers, which offers players a wide variety of alternate costumes based on the different looks Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have taken on in their comic book and movie appearances. In the case of the massively successful MCU film franchise, developer Crystal Dynamics has added such skins as Captain America’s WWII armor from Captain America: The First Avenger, Natasha Romanov and Yelena Belova’s spy outfits from last year’s Black Widow, and even Spider-Man’s red-and-black Upgraded Suit from Spider-Man: Far From Home. Fans still hope that more of these MCU skins will be included in future Marvel’s Avengers Shipments, with some of the most recent requests including Kate Bishop’s Ronan costume from the recent Hawkeye Disney + series.

In a post made on the Marvel’s Avengers Twitter account earlier today, the developers behind the game revealed that Thor’s gladiator outfit from Thor: Ragnarök will be available to purchase in the Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace starting February 17. As shown in the image included in this post, the Thor: Ragnarök outfit features the God Of Thunder sporting short-cropped hair, a black leather suit with a red cape, light blue armor on his right leg and left shoulder, and red war paint across the left side of his face. The Marvel’s Avengers post also features the phrase “[h]e’s a friend from work,” which Thor cheerfully exclaims when he first reunites with the Hulk during Thor Ragnarök’s gladiator arena scene.

MCU-based skins are far from the only new content Crystal Dynamics has been adding to Marvel’s Avengers since the team-based RPG first launched back in 2020. At least three massive DLC story expansions have been released, each one centered around a new playable hero like Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther. The fourth Marvel’s Avengers DLC character, Spider-Man, was only released as a PlayStation exclusive, and his storyline was told through smaller cutscenes and audio files that players could unlock by completing missions. More is yet to come in 2022, as Crystal Dynamics has pledged a full roadmap of DLC content for the coming year and leaks have suggested new additions to Marvel’s Avengers roster like Shuri or Iron Heart. Fans have even made their own suggestions for the next wave of Marvel’s Avengers DLC content, including requested appearances by Ultron and the Winter Soldier.

In the meantime, Thor’s appearance from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarök is quite popular among MCU fans, making it a great choice for the next unlockable alternate skin for Thor in Marvel’s Avengers. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have had no shortage of different outfits in either the comics or movies and Marvel’s Avengers provides players with their pick of the best ones while they wait to see which other heroes join the team in 2022.

Marvel’s Avengers is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Google Stadia.
