The latest Marvel’s Avengers update patch is now live, and it includes plenty of quality-of-life improvements to the game’s War Table and online matchmaking. It’s no secret that Crystal Dynamics’ team-based superhero action game was met with a divisive reception when it first launched in 2020, with much of the criticism surrounding Marvel’s Avengers’ overreliance on microtransactions and overall lack of gameplay polish. However, Crystal Dynamics has spent the past year working to address these issues in update patches, as well as add new playable heroes like Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Spider-Man (at least on PlayStation consoles).

Some of the smaller issues that have remained with Marvel’s Avengers include balancing issues with the War Table, the in-game hub used to select missions and decide which Avengers will be heading out on a given quest. Before today’s update, objectives shown on the War Table would alternate too quickly, making figuring out what to do next a little difficult for newcomers. Multiplayer matchmaking in Marvel’s Avengers has also been the source of many complaints from players who have encountered multiple glitches, crashes, and even instances of being unceremoniously dropped from a mission. Crystal Dynamics has previously pledged to address these problems in the next Marvel’s Avengers update patch, as well as add new missions featuring the return of the missing S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury.

Confirming the news on Twitter, Marvel’s Avengers has announced that the March 29 V2.3 update patch is now live, with a full list of all of the added features and fixes available to read on the Square Enix website. In addition to adding a new mission chain led by Nick Fury and removing several outdated quests, the March Marvel’s Avengers update patch reworks the War Table to make things easier and more streamlined for players. Villain Sectors and Vaults now appear naturally on the Marvel’s Avengers War Table, and missions no longer alternate after 15 minutes. Matchmaking has been reworked as well, as the Quickmatch feature is now visible on the War Table in both regional and world views, and there is a new voting system that will allow players to cancel an unwanted mission or remove a troublesome player from their Strike Team.

This will be far from the last update planned for Marvel’s Avengers in 2022, as Crystal Dynamics has teased a full roadmap of upcoming content, though this hasn’t been fully disclosed yet. Rumors suggest that new heroes like She-Hulk and the Jane Foster version of Thor could be added to Marvel’s Avengers in the coming months, and new costumes based on certain characters’ appearances in recent MCU films like Black Widow and Spider-Man: Far From Home are added to Marvel’s Avengers online marketplace regularly.

The new Marvel’s Avengers V2.3 update patch might not be as massive as last year’s Black Panther-centric War For Wakanda DLC campaign, but the smaller quality-of-life improvements to the War Table and online matchmaking will certainly be appreciated by players who struggled with these features in the past. Marvel’s Avengers is still far from a perfect superhero experience, but Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are slowly smoothing over the rough edges many saw when the game was released almost two years ago.
