Heroes Reborn is combining speed with magic as it introduces the Silver Witch. The main storyline for Heroes Reborn #3 is going to revolve around the new iteration of Scarlet Witch as she takes on additional abilities. The character appears to be getting a major power boost and going back to her roots.

Scarlet Witch was introduced in The X-Men #4 in 1964. She and her brother, Quicksilver, were first introduced as villains who were members of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants. She eventually went on to become an Avenger and the wife of Vision. Scarlet Witch first made a screen-debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron, played by Elizabeth Olsen. She now has a leading role in the ongoing Disney + original series, WandaVision.

Heroes Reborn #3 will feature a world without the Avengers. The issue will focus on Blur, who is a speedster that is usually a part of the superhero team, Squadron Supreme. Referred to as “Speedster Supreme” with “hypersonic hexes,” Scarlet Witch has become Silver Witch. This seems to be a combination of Wanda with her brother, Pietro. Her magic abilities are now supercharged with speed, potentially making her even more powerful than she already was. An interesting point is that Blur is having to save himself from Silver Witch, meaning that Wanda is back to her villainous ways.

The complete summary from Marvel states:

In REBORN #3, brace yourself for chaos magic at Mach 5! Blur, the swiftest mortal alive, must win a race through the mind-bending Dread Dimension in order to save his soul from the hypersonic hexes of the Speedster Supreme, the Silver Witch. Plus: a back-up tale takes us inside the dark secrets of the Ravencroft Asylum and its newest inmate, the Phoenix.

Without the Avengers to join up with, Silver Witch will remain a bad guy. Will she be redeemed by Squadron Supreme and be recruited like she was with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes or is she beyond redemption? The other thing worth noting in the issue synopsis is the mention of the Dread Dimension. Currently, it is not known what the Dread Dimension is, but it sounds reminiscent of some of the Dark Dimensions that Marvel has told stories about before. Some of the Dark Dimensions include the Realm of Madness and Nightmare World.

If Marvel’s track record of locations is anything to go by, Blur will not have an easy time going through the Dread Dimension or escaping the Silver Witch. The ability to open up or exist in another dimension potentially means that Silver Witch’s powers could be beyond anything fans have seen from her character thus far. Readers will have to wait until the series begins to see all the universe changes that Marvel is bringing about.

Heroes Reborn #3 is written by Jason Aaron, with art by Federico Vicentini and Ed McGuinness. The first issue kicking off the series will drop in May.
