Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Amazing Spider-Man: The Sins of Norman Osborn

A new team of Spider heroes is forming, preparing to do what no team has ever done before in Marvel Comics. While Spider-Man has teamed up with Spider heroes from across the multiverse on multiple occasions before, fans haven’t gotten a united team of Marvel’s most famous Spider heroes, all living on the same Earth. Furthermore, there’s never been a team of Spider heroes who have come together to take down Spider-Man himself. Until now.

In Amazing Spider-Man #48, from writer Nick Spencer with art by Marcelo Ferreira, Peter Parker is grappling with a huge choice: does he save Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, or does he let the Sin-Eater “cleanse” Norman of his sins?

As he fights his way to the Ravencroft Institute to find Norman Osborn, Spider heroes like Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy meet with him, both of whom have seen their respective world’s version of Peter Parker die before coming to adopt the standard 616 Earth as their new home. Miles wants Peter to let Sin-Eater get Norman, as he’s already seen the Green Goblin kill Peter before on his world. He doesn’t want to see that again. Gwen isn’t sure what Peter should do, but she does want him to think hard about what he does next. At the end of the issue, the new Madame Web tells Peter that if he does save Norman, he will kill again. In spite of this, Spider-Man decides to save the Green Goblin anyway.

This brings things to The Amazing Spider-Man: The Sins of Norman Osborn from Spencer and artist Federico Vincentini, which sees a gathering of spider heroes coming together including Miles, Gwen, Silk, Spider-Girl, Spider-Woman, and Madame Web. They’ve all had visions from the Web of Life and Destiny, showing them different ways that Spider-Man will die. However, the thread that’s the same in all of them is that Norman Osborn is the one to kill Spider-Man. As a result, the Spiders form the Order of the Web, heading to stop Spider-Man in order to save his life. What Madame Web doesn’t tell the other Spiders is that in her vision, she didn’t see Norman killing Spider-Man. Instead, she saw Kindred, whom fans know has been pulling all the strings in the shadows since the beginning of this current Spider-Man series. Kindred has some major beef and issues with Spider-Man, preparing a massive vendetta against the Webslinger, despite his (or her) true identity still being unknown to characters and readers alike.

It will be interesting to see how Spider-Man will react when he see all of his Spider allies teamed up and ready to take him down if necessary. Will he stop and listen or will he end up having to team in order to stay the course and do what he thinks is right? Fans will find out soon, as the special 850th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man is next in the series, promising massive twists and turns, and Norman Osborn’s return to the Green Goblin persona.
