Miguel O’Hara is returning to Marvel Comics in a brand new miniseries, Spider-Man 2099: Exodus, which will include the debut of Winter Soldier 2099. This week, Marvel revealed a brand new Spider-Man 2099 series which will feature a handful of new characters, including future versions of Winter Soldier, a fresh take on Loki 2099, as well as new members of the 2099 X-Men. The series will revisit the world that initially debuted more than 30 years ago.

Spider-Man 2099 is one of Marvel’s most popular future heroes, first debuting in Spider-Man #2099 by Peter David and Rick Leonardi. Miguel O’Hara lives in Nueva York and has his DNA rewritten to gain spider-powers, becoming Spider-Man 2099. O’Hara is one of many heroes with 2099 versions, as the imprint featured the likes of Doom 2099, Ghost Rider 2099, Hulk 2099, Punisher 2099, and the X-Men 2099. In addition, Miguel O’Hara is set to appear as the main antagonist of the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse animated film, where he will be voiced by Oscar Issac. However, before the animated version appears in the movie, he will star in his own Marvel Comics adventure.

Spider-Man 2099 will swing into action in Spider-Man 2099: Exodus – Alpha #1 by Steve Orlando and Paul Fry. The three-part comic series will a Celestial arrive on Earth “bringing a glimmer of hope” to the broken world. Spider-Man 2099 will encounter a string of characters as he travels across the Marvel Universe, including the new Winter Soldier.  Exodus – Alpha #1 will see Spider-Man 2099 taking on a group called The Cabal, led by a mysterious Marvel villain. Spider-Man 2099: Exodus #1 by Orlando and Dave Watcher will see the debut of Winter Soldier 13, aka Winter Soldier of 2099. Marvel Comics teases the character as “salvaged from the black market as a child” that was raised on “mad science” and bent on “vengeance.” Check out the female Winter Soldier in action on the cover from Ryan Stegman.

Spider-Man 2099: Exodus #2 by Orlando and Marco Castiello will see a new Loki 2099 emerge, as the Prince of Lies is the last survivor of Asgard’s Ragnarok. But, the villain has some tricks up his sleeve. The cover below is also by Stegman.

It’s cool to see the 2099 universe return in such a big way, as Miguel O’Hara has always been a fan favorite since his debut as Spider-Man 2099. Adding a new Winter Soldier 2099 should excite readers, as the character looks worthy of the mantle. Spider-Man 2099: Exodus – Alpha #1 arrives in comic book stores on May 5, 2022.
