The clues on The Masked Singer have been as significant to many fans as the performances, and now, a Robopine spoiler may be proving that all identity clues just aren’t real. Fans who watch the show love trying to figure out who is behind the mask. For five seasons, dedicated sleuths have analyzed and interpreted every possible clue on the show, and have been fairly successful at it. For the first time in the season’s history, fans are questioning if the clues are even real for one particular contestant, Robopine. In the past, there have been red herring clues to throw people off but those clues still applied to the contestant. They just applied much more directly to a popular guess that wasn’t the right one.

This time, fans are questioning if the clues are just intentionally wrong. This started following Robopine’s first performance when he said he was 60 with grandkids. The panel was not buying it and even suggested he could be lying. This threw the fans into overdrive. Is that possible? Would the show allow a contestant to just lie? Obviously, the celebrities lie when they deny being on the show but this would be the first time a singer in costume just gave totally false information. As Grandpa Monster, Logan Paul somewhat implied he was older but he never actually said it, so even that wouldn’t be the same. Most fans refused to believe his statement could be a lie, but then a potential spoiler gave this fake clue rumor legs.

Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson was spotted in a “Don’t Talk To Me” hoodie. Anyone familiar with the show will know these are what the contestants wear backstage (it’s shown often in behind-the-scenes clips). Previous celebrity Masked Singers, including Wendy Williams and Caitlyn Jenner, have spoiled their identities early by being spotted with the same hoodie. When Joey Contino spoiled this information on his YouTube channel, many fans took it with a grain of salt. Having seen Robopine tower over Niecy Nash, it seemed unlikely it could be 5’11” tall Gibson. Plus, fans can buy those hoodies. Also, there were wildcards still that could potentially be the Fast and Furious star.

Now, the wildcards are over and we know that none are Tyrese Gibson. That hoodie can be purchased, but in another older Instagram post, he appears to be wearing a hoodie inside out. If you stop the Instagram video at about 1:10, you can see the flap open, and it appears to be that same hoodie he’s been spotted in earlier. Why would he be intentionally trying to hide the hoodie if he’s just a fan wearing one? We’ve now also had a chance to see Robopine next to host Nick Cannon, and he doesn’t seem as tall as fans previously thought. His shoulders do appear to be a bit shorter than those of 6’1″ Cannon. Now, we’ve explained why people think Tyreses is on the show, and we have no options except Robopine that we aren’t sure of.

This leaves the issue of the clues. Obviously, Gibson isn’t 60 or a grandfather. While we were originally able to link the first clue package to Steve Harvey, later clues about childhood in Costa Rica don’t seem to fit any popular guesses, including Gibson. So, why would fans think this one celeb would lie and have fake clues? He has an upcoming album called Identity Theft. While it might be a cute reason to give phony clues, many fans are still not convinced that the show would risk the wrath of the mobs whose time they wasted. It would also be a blow to the credibility of any clues moving forward.

The one nagging issue is the fact that Robopine does sound like Tyrese Gibson. The hoodie and the voice and the album title are hard to ignore. However, diehard fans remember what happened with Baby Alien. With a Broadway-heavy clue package, no one came anywhere near the correct guess, which was NFL star Mark Sanchez. The clues were a fit, as I explained after his Baby Alien reveal, but they were also a very successful red herring. It is possible that the reveal of Robopine could feature an equally shocking and unexpected celebrity. However, it is looking like this character could have been one giant fake-out, and Robopine is actually Tyrese Gibson. If that’s true, fans will never trust another clue again.
