Mass Effect 4 developer BioWare teased – yet again – the next installment in the series, with a new poster released as part of this year’s N7 Day festivities. The video game franchise’s annual November 7 celebration features BioWare-led special events, promotions and teasers for upcoming Mass Effect series project. This year, for N7 Day 2021, the studio is hosting a Mass Effect: Legendary Edition sale on multiple platforms, as well as a sale on Mass Effect merchandise in the BioWare Gear Store.

BioWare previously teased that the next installment in the Mass Effect franchise was already in the works with a teaser trailer unveiled during last year’s The Game Awards. While no details on the upcoming game were announced, the trailer did tease the return of asari researcher Liara T’Soni, as well as the possibility of the game being set in the Milky Way galaxy – hinting the new installment would be a sequel to the original trilogy.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

BioWare shared the poster for a new Mass Effect game on its official Twitter account. The image, which says “Mass Effect Will Continue,” shows a bird’s eye view of what looks like the barren surface of a planet or asteroid. Fortunately, the poster BioWare published is large enough that some of its details are discernible. The image appears to have four characters walking away from an unfamiliar shuttle that has “SFX” painted on it. The crew, one of which seems to be krogan, look like they’re approaching a crater that resembles a geth face when seen from above. A body of a geth is also potentially visible, embedded into the ground.

Interestingly, the shuttle seen in the poster features a similar white, black, and red color scheme to the Normandy in the first Mass Effect game. The Normandy from Mass Effect had the “SR1” designation, which means “Stealth Reconnaissance-1,” so the “SFX” on the poster’s shuttle could mean something similar. Additionally, it is possible that the geth could play a significant role in the next game, seeing as the artificial intelligence race had a major part in Mass Effect 3’s story.

While the new poster doesn’t reveal anything explicit and its contents could wind up having nothing to do with the next Mass Effect game’s story, it does invite theories about the upcoming title and its contents. As the game approaches its release sometime in the future, more information will likely unveil. Hopefully, Mass Effect 4’s full development starts sooner than what was previously reported.
