Part of what has made the MCU such a successful franchise is how the movies flawlessly bring together these iconic characters. Seeing them share the screen together is a dream for any fan of the Marvel world and the movies find fun ways to have these characters interact, including the occasional fight.

These heroes are usually far from perfect and with such big personalities, even the most heroic among them can’t help but fight amongst themselves. These showdowns can be funny, emotional, and are always entertaining. Though they always learn to fight together eventually, sometimes a good scrap is needed first.

10 Iron Man Vs War Machine – Iron Man 2 (2010)

Tony Stark makes a lot of enemies but one person who is always by his side is James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes. Even when Tony is actually like an arrogant jerk, Rhodey will stick with him. But he’s also not afraid to teach Tony a lesson.

When Tony starts getting reckless with his armor, Rhodey suits up in the War Machine armor and the two have a throwdown. The fight is mostly played for laughs though it does highlight Tony losing grip and Rhodey trying to keep him straight.

9 Guardians Of The Galaxy Vs The Avengers – Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

After making their wild debut on the cosmic side of the MCU, fans were just waiting for the day the Guardians of the Galaxy would come face-to-face with the Avengers. They finally collide while trying to stop Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

Both sides mistake the other for working with Thanos and their instincts are to attack without question. It’s great fun seeing these characters come together and start throwing each other around which leads to a hilarious standoff.

8 Ant-Man Vs Falcon – Ant-Man (2015)

Given his name and his powers, Ant-Man isn’t the most intimidating hero in the MCU. However, as he prepares for a heist, Scott Lang gets a chance to show that he is not a hero to be underestimated.

After accidentally stumbling onto an Avengers compound, Ant-Man is intercepted by Falcon. Though Falcon is not a top-tier Avenger, the two heroes prove themselves to be a good match with Ant-Man surprisingly coming out on top.

7 Hulk Vs Thor – The Avengers (2012)

Hulk has always been the unpredictable member of the Avengers so it’s not too surprising that Loki uses him to help tear the heroes apart. As the team holds Loki captive on a Helicarrier, Loki’s forces attack and Bruce Banner turns into Hulk.

As Hulk tears apart the flying command base, Thor is the only one who can face off with the monster. There are some great moments, like Hulk trying to lift Mjolnir in frustration, and this begins the fun rivalry between Thor and Hulk.

6 Captain America Vs Captain America – Avengers: Endgame (2019)

In order to reverse Thanos wiping out half the universe, the remaining Avengers stage a time heist to steal the Infinity Stones in the past. This brings several of the heroes back to New York City during Loki’s invasion.

After securing the Mind Stone, Captain America runs into a formidable foe – himself. As he comes face-to-face with his 2012 self, the young Cap assumes the older Cap is really Loki. This leads to a quick but fun fight where the older Cap seems annoyed with his younger optimistic self.

5 Thor Vs Hulk – Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor gets his rematch with Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok though it is in quite an unexpected place. After being cast out of Asgard and winding up on the alien planet of Sakaar, Thor is forced into a gladiator match against the Sakaar’s reigning champion, Hulk.

The fight is a much funnier battle than their previous fight. Thor’s excitement at seeing his old friend, his attempt to use Black Widow’s calming technique, and the callback to Hulk’s battering of Loki provide big laughs.

4 Hulk Vs Iron Man – Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

After getting manipulated by Scarlet Witch, Hulk is once again running a rampage and one of his allies is forced to step in. with Thor out of commission, Tony calls in his Hulkbuster armor and takes on the big green guy.

The extended fight is a thrilling and destructive action sequence that shows off how scary Hulk can be as well as Tony’s cool new armor. It is a messy and chaotic throwdown that seems to fit the characters well.

3 Thor Vs Iron Man – The Avengers (2012)

When the Avengers come together for the first time, many of them have a hard time seeing eye-to-eye. Thor and Iron Man are both arrogant heroes at times so it’s not too surprising that they decide to duke it out instead of getting to know each other.

Seeing these two heroes share the screen for the first time was exciting enough, seeing them fun was so much fun. From Thor’s lighting recharging Iron Man’s power to Thor headbutting the helmet, there was a lot of fun to be had with the matchup.

2 Captain America & Bucky Vs Iron Man – Captain America: Civil War (2016)

While the larger political argument of Captain America: Civil War was interesting, the real fight came down to a much more personal issue. After Zemo lures Captain America, Bucky, and Iron Man in, he reveals the truth that Bucky killed Tony’s parents.

The ensuing fight is an emotional and heartbreaking one. Tony wants revenge, Bucky wants to escape his past and Steve wants to protect his friend. While Steve comes out on top, there is no victory.

1 Airport Fight – Captain America: Civil War (2016)

As Captain America and Iron Man find themselves on the opposite side of the debate over oversight for the Avengers, they put together their own teams of heroes. This culminates in the epic, fun battle on an airport terminal.

Not only are we seeing old friends duke it out, but the sequence manages to bring in new characters like Spider-Man and Black Panther who shine as well. It really feels like a comic book come to life as the fight delivers laughs and thrills with this superhero smackdown.
