Digital artist SUPER FRAME shares their latest piece that looks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s future, adding the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the superhero lineup. The MCU entered its 4th phase in 2021, moving beyond the Infinity Saga storyline and introducing new heroes such as Shang-Chi and the Eternals. Future shows and films will also introduce characters like She-Hulk, Blade, and the Fantastic Four to the hugely successful franchise.

Though Thanos (Josh Brolin) is defeated, the universe has been restored, and many staple heroes such as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) have taken their bows, the MCU shows no signs of slowing down. Branching into television series to bolster its film output, phase 4 of the MCU has seen heroes such as Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) take up their predecessors’ mantles as Captain America and Hawkeye, respectively. Phase 4 is also introducing new, previously unseen characters from the MCU, such as the immortal Eternals, vampire hunter Blade (Mahershala Ali), and wielder of the powerful Ten Rings Shang-Chi (Simu Liu). With the universe growing so, exponentially one artist has set out to depict the many characters set to potentially feature in future Marvel movies and shows.

Sharing their artwork to the Marvel Studios subreddit, SUPER FRAME’s banner envisions how the MCU’s hero roster may look in the future. SUPER FRAME used the current looks for characters like Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) new suit, and Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) updated armor in Thor: Love and Thunder. The artist has also envisioned new costumes for characters like Monica Rambeau (Teyonnah Parris), while fan-casting characters like Johnny Storm and Professor Xavier with Dacre Montgomery and Ralph Fiennes, respectively. While it has been confirmed Spider-Man director Jon Watts will helm the MCU’s Fantastic Four, it seems that there is still some time until the first family of Marvel Comics makes their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Despite this, characters related to the team have been included in the image, such as Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). Meanwhile, for the X-Men, many fans have speculated how the studio can introduce mutants to the current MCU landscape without having major implications on the current canon. Some have suggested that the popular Marvel team should be introduced through a multiversal convergence, bringing in the cast from FOX’s X-Men franchise, with many cast members being open to returning.

While Marvel Studios remains hush over many of their future plans, fans anticipate the arrival of many comic characters the studio wasn’t able to introduce into the MCU due to legal issues. With Marvel’s focus on more closely paying tribute to the source material and adapting them as faithfully as possible, many hope that these MCU incarnations of the cast will become the definitive live-action incarnations. Not only does SUPER FRAME’s work envision future new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but reminds fans that there is still plenty of heroes to take up the departed founding Avengers’ roles.
