The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s new Falcon has discussed what is next for him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series was the second entry in the string of original live-action shows that streamed exclusively on Disney+ throughout 2021, immediately following the smash hit WandaVision. It followed the exploits of Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie as Falcon as they navigated the world of post-Blip extremism and discovered the existence of a new super-soldier serum. The series ended with a huge shakeup for the MCU, in which Falcon took on the mantle and the shield of Captain America.

One of the most memorable new characters in the series was Joaquín Torres played by Danny Ramirez. He is a first lieutenant in the Air Force and was assigned to assist Falcon during his mission in the series’ opening episode. They formed a bond over the course of the series, and when Falcon fully embraced his new identity as the next Captain America, he let Torres hold onto his old wings, implying that he will be returning as the new Falcon in the upcoming film Captain America 4.

Screen Rant sat down with Danny Ramirez to discuss his upcoming film No Exit, which is coming to theaters on February 25. Over the course of the interview, he was asked to touch on his potential future in the MCU. As any well-trained Marvel actor would, he replied that he “obviously can’t say anything.” However, he went on to say “I’m really excited with who he is as a person and how he carries himself,” implying that his tenure with the MCU isn’t over just yet. Read his full quote below:

Well, I obviously can’t say anything but I’m just genuinely excited in the direction that all of Hollywood is going in the amount of representation on screen for Latino/Latinx characters and, with Joaquin, I’m really excited with who he is as a person and how he carries himself and that’s all I’m gonna say, because I can’t! You know I can’t!

Currently, not much is known about what Captain America 4 will look like, as it is still much too early in pre-production. The film was announced in spring 2021 with a projected filming date set for sometime this year. It has been reported that Anthony Mackie will be starring as Captain America, but everything else as far as the plot or the other characters surrounding him remains shrouded in secrecy.

However, if Torres is excluded from the new film, it would be a huge missed opportunity. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier obviously set him up for a major role in the future of the MCU, and Danny Ramirez has already proved his ability to forge compelling onscreen chemistry with his co-star. Considering that the film is beginning production so soon, there may be more news coming soon, but considering how tight-lipped Marvel is when films are this early in the process, fans may have to wait an excruciatingly long time for proper answers.
