The Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s new Falcon actor reveals who he wants his first superhero team up to be with: Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. Played by Danny Ramirez, Joaquín Torres was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force who supports Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) a.k.a Falcon in his fight against the Flag Smashers. The two bond over the course of the Disney+ series and during episode 5, Sam hands his old wings over to Joaquín, and seemingly the Falcon mantle with them.

The next Marvel series coming to Disney+ is Moon Knight, which stars Issac as a mercenary suffering from dissociative identity disorder who becomes a conduit for the Egyptian god Khonshu (voiced by F. Murray Abraham). Due to the character’s condition, Issac will play a few different identities throughout the show, including a mild-mannered gift-shop employee (Steven Grant), an upscale suit-wearing personality (Mr. Knight), and his “real” identity, Marc Spector. Moon Knight premieres on March 30, which can’t come soon enough for fans anticipating a darker and more violent entry into the MCU.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In an interview with Screen Rant promoting his new movie No Exit, Ramirez, revealed who he is most excited to see his character team up with in future projects in the MCU. Out of all the talented actors and actresses from throughout Marvel’s stable of movies and shows, the Joaquín Torres actor decisively answered with Oscar Issac, pointing out that he and the Moon Knight star were “both raised in Miami.” Read what Ramirez had to say below:

I think somebody I’ve always wanted to work with is Oscar Isaac. Honestly, everyone across the MCU is some of the most talented in the entire craft. I think it’s lovely to be a part of it.

Joaquín receiving Sam Wilson’s old wings mirrored a previous scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame when old Steve Rogers passed the vibranium shield down to Wilson, effectively enshrining Sam as the next Captain America. Falcon and the Winter Soldier then chronicled Sam’s journey to fully embrace the mantle. Mackie is reportedly the star of Captain America 4 and it would only be appropriate for Joaquín to be at his side as Falcon, just as Sam was for Steve Rogers’s Cap (Chris Evans).

Beyond this speculation, Falcon’s future is uncertain. Moon Knight seems to be carving out its own distinct place within the MCU, though given the character’s history of team-ups in the comics and the nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s interconnectivity, some crossovers are bound to happen later on down the line. Perhaps Ramirez’s dream scenario could one day become a reality.
