The MCU has had its fair share of heroes with tragic fates and backgrounds (and sometimes villains as well). But one of the good guys who’s had it really for bad for decades is none other than Captain America’s best friend, Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier. Bucky committed many heinous actions in the past, neither of which was his fault.

Luckily, he’ll get another chance to prove who really is in his solo show. Even though it might not seem obvious at first, Bucky has a strong sense of humor, and there’s more to him than just being sad or angry. The fans certainly noticed Bucky’s funny streak and made a lot of hilarious memes about him.

It might be easy to miss considering Bucky usually appears during action scenes, but he’s actually a very expressive person. So much so his various funny, or even weird expressions, can very well express the mood someone else has. Especially if they’re feeling angry, unhappy, annoyed, or absolutely furious.

9 Bucky’s Changing Hairstyle

During his run as the Winter Soldier, Bucky hasn’t exactly had the time to care about his hairstyle. So his hair grew and grew, and across the individual MCU films, it became longer.

So much so that this meme introduced the hypothesis that Bucky would eventually end up looking like Chewbacca from Star Wars. That didn’t happen, in the end, as he cut his hair shorter for the new TV show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. But if anybody could pull off the extremely-long-hair look, it’s Bucky.

8 Bucky Likes Everyone… Almost

The sad fact about Bucky is that before he fell to his presumed death and Hydra brainwashed him, he was a just a normal nice guy. He was someone who wanted to help people, not hurt them. Of course, this never changes about Bucky, but he stops being in control of his actions and made to be more evil and cruel. It’s doubtful whether Bucky liked everyone before his transformation, but this meme suggests that he did.

The only exception would apparently be Sam, but even if Bucky claims he hates Sam, the fans know very well theirs is more of a case of a friendly rivalry and this kind of comment would only be part of a joking back and forth.

With the exception of when Bucky tried to kill Steve (but he was brainwashed at the time, so it doesn’t count), Bucky is a good friend. During the war, he spent a lot of time protecting his friend. And once they rekindled their friendship in the 21st century, Bucky would no doubt act the same way.

So much so he might consider it personal if anybody decided to insult Steve in such a way and he would take it upon himself to teach that person a lesson they wouldn’t forget.

Speaking of Bucky and Steve, many fans ship the two and believe they could have been – or were – more than friends. This meme suggests that when Bucky heard about Steve’s upcoming arrival, he did his best to clean himself up, especially when it came to his hairstyle.

And no-one can deny that the transformation worked out well for Bucky since he looks much livelier in the bottom picture in which he’s facing Steve.

Even the most devoted Bucky’s fans might not have realized one simple truth – Bucky Barnes is actually a Disney princess. This might seem like a stretch but when one compares Bucky’s life to Rapunzel’s life, they quickly realize that Bucky and Rapunzel have a lot in common – much more than anyone could have expected.

One thing that remains doubtful is whether Bucky’s hair is really magic but the MCU might provide the answer to this question in the future.

4 How The MCU Cast Bucky

Sebastian Stan had a promising acting career going on even before his run as Bucky Barnes. But it was this role that catapulted him to stardom. What remains unclear is how exactly did the casting directors choose Sebastian Stan to play Bucky.

This meme suggests that Stan originally wanted to play Captain America but thanks to some clever wordplay, he ended up playing Bucky. And since Bucky ended up appearing longer in the MCU than Steve Rogers, it’s safe to say it probably worked out well for Sebastian Stan.

3 Bucky Knows How To Hide

Being a superhero – or, in Bucky’s case – a superhero and a villain means the characters need to know how to hide. On more than one occasion, the MCU heroes ended up pretending they were civilians.

Despite the differences in their individual circumstances, they all chose the same method – wearing a hat and sunglasses. Needless to say, this would only trick those who wouldn’t watch them too closely but Bucky still gave it his best.

2 The Soft Soldier

As stated above, Bucky was a nice, gentle guy before his enemies got their hands on him and brainwashed him. This photo demonstrates further that if he got the option, Bucky wouldn’t hurt anyone – at least anyone who didn’t deserve it.

The Winter Soldier takes a break to pet a black cat, proving that he’s not a true Winter Soldier, he’s a Soft Soldier – meaning he has a soft heart.

1 Bucky Doesn’t Understand The 21st Century

Bucky might be better acclimated to living in the 21st century than Steve ever was, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything about it. This meme jokingly suggests that there’s one big difference between the two best friends.

Steve doesn’t download films because he doesn’t think it’s fair. Bucky, on the other hand, doesn’t download films simply because he has no idea how to do it.
