Melissa McCarthy Battles Grief And A Taunting Bird In The Starling Trailer

The official trailer for The Starling, an upcoming Netflix drama, shows Melissa McCarthy battling the complications of heartbreak, love, and a relentless bird outside her home. McCarthy, whose role in Bridesmaids brought her critical recognition, stars alongside fellow Bridesmaids co-star Chris O’Dowd in this upcoming comedy-drama about the journey of dealing with grief after a traumatic loss. Directed by Theodore Melfi (Hidden Figures) and written by Matt Harris, Netflix releases The Starling on September 24.

The Starling trailer unveiled a look inside the film’s tear-jerking premise and heartwarming narrative. The story follows Lilly (McCarthy) and her husband Jack (O’Dowd) as they deal with a stillbirth. The two seem to be coping with the shared tragedy in notably different ways.
