Originally created for Metal Gear Solid 2, Raiden was meant to be a proxy version of Solid Snake. He was a way for the Patriots to create another Solid Snake through VR as an adaptation in a sense. However, Raiden eventually became a character of his own through his experiences in Metal Gear Solid 2 and his time as a Cyborg Ninja.

Defined as a powerful and unique soldier in his own right. He garnered his own fanbase thanks to his quirks and many fans love his designs to the point of attempting to replicate it through cosplay. In fact, these cosplays of Raiden from Metal Gear Solid have to be seen to be believed.

10 Waiting For The Fight

This gorgeous cyborg Raiden cosplay is worn by cosplayer nagi_kojikoji. Based on his appearance from Metal Gear Solid 4, this is one of the most accurate interpretations of the character that has been seen yet.

Being the first cyborg body that he wore before his more recognizable black design, the cosplayer has beautifully captured every detail in the suit. They did so while also maintaining Raiden’s character from Metal Gear Solid 4.

9 Jack The Ripper

One of the cleanest Raiden cosplays released so far, this one is created by Mama Cosmos. Although it lacks the cybernetic elements that make the character so famous, the stripped-down approach allows for the costume to be functional.

Due to that, it captures many of the acrobatics that the character’s cyborg body is able to do without the clunkiness that the design itself might cause in real-life practicality. The red elements and gunmetal grey parts also make the suit stand out just enough.

8 The Cyborg Ninja

One of the most dynamic cosplays of Raiden, this is also one of the most detailed. Contrasting the previous cosplayer, Naythero Productions’ interpretation of Raiden is the video game design fully realized, from the carbon muscles to the texture of the armor, the colors chosen and the lighting picked.

All of this creates a fully realized cyborg ninja that has been beautifully reimagined. All with the the intricate little details straight from the video games.

7 It Has To Be This Way

Worn by Ume and made by Gami-san, this is another cosplay based on Raiden’s cyborg body from Metal Gear Solid 4. Outside of the various plastic pieces, the majority of the suit is made through latex or other fabrics.

That allows the costume to have a nice sheen while maintaining the flexibility that Raiden is supposed to have. Although it isn’t as robust as the previous versions seen in other cosplayers, its practicality and simplicity let it stay relevant.

6 We Are The Lightning

Alongside Naythero Productions who has an impressive Raiden costume, he tags alongside the gender-bent version of the character. Portrayed by Lilnyra Cos’Art, this is a fun interpretation of the character that doesn’t shy away from being different.

Although there are clear liberties taken with her version of the character, she has maintained plenty of Raiden’s design elements that help keep her distinct, as well as faithful to the Raiden character.

5 Not A Rookie

Worn by the cosplayer Masazi, this is another cosplay design based on Metal Gear Solid 4. However, what makes her cosplay distinct is how her helmet is motorized, allowing her to bring in and retract it.

That makes it accurate to how the cyborg body functioned during the game. Outside of that, there are plenty of little details that were fully realized by the cosplayers, making it one of the most impressive versions to ever be made.

4 Rules Of Nature

Another cosplay based on Raiden’s design from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, this interpretation of the suit is built more for practicality rather than detail. Utilizing foam and other materials, it creates a different interpretation.

However, the suit’s aesthetics alongside the movement is still accurate to the video games. It allows this to remain a worthy costume created by the devoted fan and cosplayer DAN.

3 Infiltrating

Worn and designed by ShioriRaiden, this suit is based on Raiden’s original appearance during Metal Gear Solid 2. Wearing his classic sneaking suit, this is one of the most accurate versions of the character.

Every detail that was implemented within the suit has been realized, from the shoulders to the skeleton chest pieces. The bonus of Raiden’s respective weapons helps to show how faithful this version of the suit is.

2 Preparing To Strike

Another version of the Metal Gear Solid 4 design, this Raiden costume seems to be more gritty compared to other interpretations. Worn once again by ShioriRaiden, it is a different spin towards the same character.

Outside of the helmet and cybernetic pieces, the best part of the suit arguably comes from the musculature. Having this organic clay-like design that makes it feel more artificially human. A solid gritty interpretation of the Raiden character.

1 Motorized For Combat

Worn by G-cosplayer, this Raiden cosplay is based on his Revengeance design. However, this interpretation of the design has a different spin to it, adding whites into the suit, making it closer to his design from Metal Gear Solid 5.

Outside of the foam musculature, it is layered underneath with an undersuit. That adds in practicality and flexibility to the suit, making it more possible to do poses as the character.
