4A Games Limited has revealed the exact date when the RTX-powered Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition arrives on PC. This particular version is slightly better in terms of supported technologies in comparison to the upcoming Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 editions. That hasn’t stopped many anxious gamers from wanting to get their hands on it.

While the latest announcement is dedicated to the upcoming PC version of RTX-powered Metro Exodus re-release, console versions for the current generation are also dropping relatively soon. Both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of Metro Exodus have been recently rated by the Taiwan rating board, which clearly indicates that console players will soon be able to enjoy incredible ray-tracing beauties on their devices of choice.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to the official announcement by 4A Games, the developer of the Metro franchise, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will be available on PC next Thursday, May 6. This version of Metro Exodus comes packed with proper ray-tracing support meaning that every light source in the game is now RTX-powered. Thanks to the grounded work by the development team, Enhanced Edition is fully equipped with all the currently available visual technologies including advanced reflections, global illumination, emissive lighting, and an additional DLSS 2.0 support for Nvidia GPUs. The sad part is that the game cannot be enjoyed on PCs without RTX support since the Enhanced Edition release is meant to be played only with ray-tracing enabled. Luckily, the existing Metro Exodus players won’t have to pay any extra cash to secure the copy of the RTX-powered re-release, given they also possess a supported GPU. The game comes as a free upgrade for all the owners of the base game.

The majority of listed visual technologies will also be available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 once the respective versions of Metro Exodus are out. The only excluded features are the aforementioned DLSS 2.0 support and the advanced ray-traced reflections. The rest of the package stuffed with graphical upgrades will be fully enjoyed on consoles in 4K resolution and 60 FPS. The Xbox Series S, however, will slightly differ from its more powerful console counterparts as it’ll only render the sharp RTX-garnished image in 1080p.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for PC is somewhat of a niche release since it is aimed strictly at RTX-enabled GPUs only. As such, it will probably come out unnoticed by the general public while ray-tracing enthusiasts will most likely be satisfied with what this exclusive package has to offer. In that case, having an Xbox Series X/S or a PS5 is a much better opportunity to enjoy the upgraded visuals of the post-apocalyptic game, which won’t be hugely different compared to a slightly more elaborate PC version. That’s the power of the current generation, which is only starting to be explored to its fullest.
