Michael Keaton, who is reprising his role as the Vulture in the upcoming Morbius film, has revealed that he recently recorded some dialogue for the character in Los Angeles. Keaton’s first appearance as Adrian Toomes was in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, in which he served as the film’s main antagonist opposite Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. His unexpected inclusion in the Morbius film was revealed in early 2020 when he made a surprise appearance at the end of that film’s first teaser.

Morbius stars Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who accidentally turns himself into a vampire while attempting to cure a rare blood disease. It is Sony’s third villain-focused Spider-Man spinoff film, following 2018’s Venom and its 2021 sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The presence of what appears to be Michael Keaton’s MCU version of the Vulture in Morbius is one of many contradictory elements which makes it unclear whether the film is set in the MCU or one of Sony’s Spider-Man timelines. Spider-Man: No Way Home introducing past Sony characters into the MCU muddies the waters even more.

Now, Keaton has revealed via Instagram that he has recently recorded some dialogue for a project involving the Vulture. The post contains a photograph of the Sony Scoring Stage in Los Angeles and some text explaining that Keaton is doing some “A Toomes” work. “A Toomes” refers to Adrian Toomes, the Vulture’s secret identity. Keaton hasn’t specified what project he was recording for. It’s possible that he was simply doing ADR or promotional dialogue for Morbius. It is also possible that he was recording dialogue for another project that his version of the Vulture has not yet been publicly connected to, such as the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1).  His presence in LA also reveals that he is no longer on the Glasgow set of Batgirl, which could indicate that he has finished filming his scenes as Batman for that film.

On an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2021, Keaton announced that he would soon be filming more Vulture content. It has not been revealed if this was for Morbius, which wrapped filming in 2019 but had its release date delayed by the COVID pandemic, or for some other project. It has been speculated that Keaton’s Vulture might make a cameo in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, or appear in the recently announced Kraven The Hunter film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Hopefully, audiences will be seeing plenty more of Keaton’s Vulture after Morbius.
