Disney+ has shared the news of a season 2 renewal for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Game Changers continues the story of Coach Gordon Bombay, once again played by franchise star, Emilio Estevez, as he is tasked with helping another young team of hockey outsiders as they work to find their place on the ice rink. The series serves as a revival of the original Mighty Ducks film franchise, consisting of three movies released between 1992 and 1996. Steven Brill, the writer of the original films, developed the series and serves as the showrunner. Estevez stars alongside Lauren Graham and a team of young stars led by Brady Noon.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Disney+ announced the season 2 renewal via a short video shared on Twitter that features a few quick glimpses from the first season, followed by “S2” and “2022.” Disney kept their tweet short and to the point by simply saying, “Season 2. It’s chill.” While no specific details were shared on what season 2 would entail, audiences now know that they only have to wait until next year for more episodes. Check out the tweet below:

The first season featured The Mighty Ducks as villains, with the show’s underdogs playing on a team they formed themselves called the Don’t Bothers. The season ended with the Don’t Bothers winning the right to call themselves The Mighty Ducks, which is likely where the second season will pick up. The first season also featured numerous actors who portrayed the young team in the original films returning for small roles, including Matt Doherty as Averman, Elden Henson as Fulton Reed, and Vincent LaRusso as Adam Banks. While nothing has currently been announced, season 2 will likely try to continue this trend. Further details on season 2 of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will be released as it develops.
