Million Dollar Listing NY: Fredrik Eklund’s Age, Family, Hometown & More

Fredrik Eklund is one of the remaining original cast members of Million Dollar Listing New York. He joined the show alongside Ryan Serhant and Michael Lorber in 2012. Fredrik quickly became a fan-favorite amongst the viewers for his outlandish personality and unstoppable energy. Even though he might annoy his fellow realtors once and a while, Fredrik has become one of New York City’s staples in the real estate scene. Fredrik loves being the center of attention, which has clearly gotten him far in his career.

Viewers were introduced to the 44-year-old in 2012 during the first season of the Bravo series. At first, fans were taken aback by Fredrik’s high energy, but as the years past the viewers fell in love with his animated personality. Since then, Fredrik has become the face of MDLNY, even crossing over to the original series Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, which features Josh Flagg. When fans think of the show, Fredrik immediately comes to mind as he brings both the real estate eye candy and the drama.

Fredrik Eklund was born on April 26, 1977, in Sweden. His brother, Sigge Eklund, is a famous author, and his father, Klas Eklund, is a senior economist at Swedish bank SEB. His father’s parents were also well-known actors in Sweden long before Fredrick was even alive. When Fredrick was in high school, he moved to Minnesota for a short time as a foreign exchange student. However, he came back to Sweden and eventually started his own Internet company at only 23-years-old, and went on to work for SEB in Stockholm, London, Singapore, and Tokyo (via Elliman). Fredrik, who showed off his L.A home, later worked in the adult film industry over the course of a few months (via Out Magazine). But the TV personality quickly realized this industry wasn’t for him and moved out to New York City in 2004. When he arrived in the Big Apple, Fredrik began to pursue a career in real estate.

After hustling in the business, the Sweden native became the managing director at the NYC real estate firm CORE Group Marketing and in 2010, along with his business partner John Gomes, who works for the largest real estate company on the East Coast, Douglas Elliman. Fredrik and John are also the co-founder of the EKLUNDGOMES Team and have secured over $10 billion in closed residential sales. Besides his flourishing career, Fredrik married his long-time love Derek Kaplan in 2013 in the Florida Keys. In 2017, the couple welcomed two children together, Milla and Fredrik Jr, via surrogate. Fredrick also revealed in a lengthy Instagram caption that he is 160 days sober in March. He admitted he was a “high-functional addict” and that the decision to quit wasn’t easy. However, he has since become a happier person who doesn’t worry about the future anymore.

Since he began to give viewers an inside look into his life and career on Million Dollar Listing New York, Fredrick’s profession has grown exponentially. Not only did has he been making sales out in Los Angeles, but he also had a short-lived spin-off on Bravo with former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel. Fredrik is not only flourishing in real estate but also as a TV personality. Maybe one day, Bravo will give the fans a proper Fredrick spin-off that includes his adorable family.
