A clever Minecraft build has recently surfaced, showing off an ingenious way of getting to space. Talented gamers are constantly using Minecraft to build custom activities and minigames, massive artistic pieces, and intricate feats of virtual engineering, often leveraging optical illusions and other tricks to achieve these goals.

By taking advantage of the game’s robust and sprawling crafting and building systems, countless Minecraft players have been able to piece together astonishing creations over the years. Thanks to the game’s Creative Mode, which offers unrestricted access to all building blocks and decorative accents, the artistically inclined have managed to produce gargantuan statues, cities, and fantastical landscapes. Some players have been able to accomplish feats of the same magnitude in Survival Mode, which is often considered a much more time-consuming and impressive achievement. One mystery creator even managed to realize a detailed, enormous castle in Minecraft‘s Survival Mode, shocking even the owner of the server. Whichever mode a player chooses, however, the core systems of building blocks and Redstone (which lets players design electric or mechanical constructs) remain the same.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A good example of the game’s building systems working in unison comes courtesy of Reddit user HypixelShorts, who shared a video of their “semi-working rocket ship” in Minecraft. In the video, which is ostensibly narrated by HypixelShorts, viewers can see how the illusion works: the player takes an elevator to the control room of the rocket ship and presses some buttons, which triggers a Redstone trap door that makes them fall into an End Portal, transporting them into the outer space-like End region, making it appear as though the rocket ship has actually traveled there itself.

This creation is made all the more impressive by HypixelShorts’s claim that it was built in Hardcore Mode, a version of Survival Mode that only gives the player one life. While perhaps not as complex as the massive iron farm built in Minecraft Hardcore, HypixelShorts’s rocket ship is still undeniably unique; the idea to implement the End Portal would have been clever even if it were done in Creative Mode, but building with the significantly higher stakes of Hardcore Mode is something that many fans will find to be much more admirable.

In their post, HypixelShorts notes that they are looking for feedback, so it’s possible that this creation will see even more improvement. Minecraft is a game that is constantly expanding not just through updates from its developer, but through the inventiveness and creativity of its player base. With that said, another player could take inspiration from HypixelShorts to build an even more remarkable rocket ship.

Minecraft is currently available on all platforms.
