Modern Family stars, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, reunite for the first time in 2 years in a wholesome new video. The highly popular ABC series began in 2009, spanning 11 years on air before ending in 2020, becoming one of the longest-running TV sitcoms. Modern Family garnered critical acclaim and collected many accolades, notably winning an impressive 22 Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Modern Family stole the hearts of many with the inside look into the lives of three lovable families, with most of the loyal fanbase growing alongside them for 11 years.

Although all adored, many consider Ferguson and Stonestreets’ Pritchett-Tucker duo to be the standout characters. The pair have been heavily praised for their representation of an LGBTQ family on television. Modern Family’s final season saw Cameron, Mitchell and their adopted Vietnamese daughter Lily add another member to the Pritchett-Tucker family, with Rexford joining towards the end of the season. The duo was perfect for the show, with Mitchell’s more reserved character often clashing with Cameron’s more melodramatic personality, regularly creating a few of the show’s funniest scenes.

Recently, Stonestreet took to Instagram to document his reunion with Ferguson, posting two videos and a few wholesome photos. The pair met again in New York as captioned by Stonestreet, who also said “A meet cute two years in the making. Missed this guy a lot” Initially marking their adorable reunion, Stonestreet also hilariously uploaded a photo of Ferguson with an aging filter and a video of him shouting “Hey that’s the redheaded guy from Modern Family” towards the end of the post. The show ending after so many years on air was a heartbreak for the fandom, with many asking for potential Modern Family spin-off shows like one centered on Mitchell and Cameron. Ferguson and Stonestreets’ reunion was long-anticipated and was most likely delayed due to the show ending just before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Modern Family‘s cast may have been a family on-screen, but through the long years spent together, the cast mates have created a sweet bond that goes beyond the show, often interacting on social media or getting to see each other when possible. It was only last month that Ferguson reunited with Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, who played his on-screen daughter Lily.

Despite a season 12 or even a spin-off show looking very unlikely, the Modern Family fandom are always treated to sweet moments on social media, like Ferguson and Stonestreets’ reunion. It would be interesting to see if the whole cast would get together in the future and have an on-screen reunion like the Friends cast. But for now, the wholesome social media get-togethers are the closest the loyal fanbase will see the cast together again.
