Monster Hunter Rise will introduce new Silkbind attacks for each weapon, giving hunters even more special moves than before. The Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, and Bow each have two special Silkbind moves, all of which greatly expand the player’s capabilities in battle.

One of the biggest new mechanics in Monster Hunter Rise is the Wirebug. This is an item that acts in a similar way to Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters. The Wirebug is a wrist-mounted insect that fires a rope-like web, which connects to other surfaces. The main function of the Wirebug is to propel the hunter into the air, giving them more 3D movement than any other entry in the series. Wirebugs now allow hunters to scale cliffs and jump onto structures, allowing them to quickly traverse the battlefield and escape from harm.

The Wirebug allows the player to perform Silkbind attacks, which incorporate the web into different moves. The bows in Monster Hunter Rise gain a number of extra functions from their Silkbind attacks, which is why we have created a guide that breaks down all of their moves.

Light Bowgun in Monster Hunter Rise

Silkbind Glide – This move propels the hunter forward and lets them perform a powerful shot when they stop. Silkbind Glide is a very tricky move to pull off when the enemy is still mobile, but it deals a ton of damage when it hits. It doesn’t help that this move burns two Wirebug charges to use, which could leave the player vulnerable to a counter. Silkbind Glide is best saved for when the enemy is incapacitated, such as when KO’d or in a trap, as it can deal a ton of damage without risk to the player.

Fanning Vault – This move vaults the hunter into the area and gives them a chance to fire an explosive shot down at the enemy below, or get in quick reload. Fanning Vault can be extremely tricky to aim at enemies beneath the player, but it serves a more useful function as an escape move, as it’s vertical height will put the hunter out of reach of most foes.

Heavy Bowgun in Monster Hunter Rise

Free Silkbind Glide – This move propels the hunter forward into a slide and they can fire a shot off at the end. Free Silkbind Glide isn’t great, as it doesn’t provide as much movement as a regular Wirebug movement. Its main use is for approaching enemies on the battlefield, but the point of ranged characters is to keep away from monsters.

Counter Shot – This is a better Silkbind attack for facing down enemies that are close. The hunter plants their shield into the ground with Wirebugs, and if they’re stuck, they can instantly counter with a shot. This move is great because it can keep the player from being stunlocked, and it lets them get an extra hit in. Just be careful about the timing of this move, as the enemy only has a small window of time to activate it with an attack.

Bow in Monster Hunter Rise

Focus Shot – This move throws the hunter into a direction decided by the player and they land into a crouching position. Focus Shot is great for getting out of dodge, which is vitally important for ranged characters. When the hunter lands into their crouch, their stamina regeneration drastically increases for a short time. Bow users burn through their stamina with charged attacks, so this move is also useful for quickly getting back into the fray, even when not in danger.

Herculean Draw – This move pushes the hunter forward a little bit, and it briefly empowers their attacks. Herculean Draw isn’t great for evasive maneuvers, but the damage bonus lasts for almost a minute. This means the hunter can constantly keep strengthening their attacks, as the Wirebug charge will be restored before the effect stops working. It’s still worth keeping at least one ready at all times for Focus Shot, but the hunter should reliably be able to keep using Herculean Draw in battle.
