Morbiuscast and character guide. After several delays, Morbius finally released in theaters. Morbius is the third film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, following in the footsteps of Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius tackles the origin story of Marvel’s “living vampire.”

Morbius’ self-titled debut has been a long time coming. The character was initially set to appear in 1998’s Blade, but his scene was cut from the film. Morbius wouldn’t enter the film conversation for another several years. In 2017, Morbius was officially announced and went through a long directorial process before settling on Espinosa — Antoine Fuqua was once attached to direct, but he passed on the project.
