The heroes of RoboCop and The Terminator, two of the cinema’s most famous futuristic robot warriors, are set to do battle once again in a pair of trailers for Mortal Kombat 11’s new Aftermath DLC expansion. Set for release on May 26, this expansion will bring the cybernetically resurrected Alex Murphy into the world of Mortal Kombat, where an old enemy is waiting for a rematch.

The three guest fighters that are set to be included in the upcoming Aftermath DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 were announced back at the beginning of the month, consisting of the aforementioned RoboCop, the multi-armed Shokan warrior Sheeva and the heroic Wind God Fujin. Additionally, the new add-on is set to bring back the comical Friendship finishers of MK titles past, as well as featuring a new storyline set after the main game – a first for the franchise. But for some fans, the main draw of this new DLC will be the chance to pit Robocop against one of Mortal Kombat 11’s previous guest fighters: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous T-800 Terminator.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Posted on YouTube earlier today, the two “Mortal Kombat 11: AftermathRoboCop vs. Terminator” trailers depict a showdown between the Terminator and Robocop, with a different stage, pre-fight introduction and winner in each one. According to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios in a recent press release, it will be up to players to determine who wins the “final round” of the fight when the Aftermath DLC is released alongside the free-with-preorders Eternal Klash Skin Pack, which includes alternate skins for Scorpion, SubZero, and Frost. You can check out the two “RoboCop Vs. Terminator” trailers below:

In one of the trailers, RoboCop mentions having encountered the T-800 before during their pre-match size-up, which he has in both the pages of Dark Horse’s RoboCop Versus The Terminator comic miniseries (which was written by legendary Daredevil scribe Frank Miller and drawn by the equally-iconic Walt Simonson) in 1992 and the 1993 2D run-and-gun video game of the same title by Virgin Interactive. This second crossover was received very poorly among fans of either post-modern film franchise, but luckily Mortal Kombat 11 is polished enough to avoid that fate.

Everybody loves a good crossover, especially one in which two beloved characters go head-to-head to settle the classic playground debate over which one is the toughest. This is especially true for the Mortal Kombat series, which has previously allowed such matchups as horror icons Jason Voorhees versus Leatherface or undead vigilante Spawn battling The Joker of Batman lore thanks to their guest fighter DLC. Now, RoboCop will be able to trade blows and bullets with The Terminator, and fans will get to decide which bot comes out on top when the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath story expansion is released on May 26.
