The indie, Soulslike Mortal Shell from developer Cold Symmetry is one of the more punishing games available today, and players will find that the intense combat rarely lets up. In the game, players control The Foundling, a wraithlike creature who can possess the bodies of fallen warriors, called Shells. The player can upgrade and switch between four Shells, each with their own unique abilities, and travel through various temples and ruins to collect the sacred glands of formidable bosses. Players will meet more than just the difficult bosses, however, as wherever they travel in Fallgrim, enemies like Brigands and eyeless, vampiric Nocteserpers will find them. Players have a few chances to collect an extremely rare and valuable consumable to help keep them alive longer and give them another chance to take down a particularly difficult enemy.

Etherial Diapason is a consumable item in Mortal Shell that allows a player to get knocked out of their Shell twice and still reclaim it, acting as a sort of extra life during combat. If players use it more than once and become more familiar with it, it will restore all their Resolve as well, which will allow them to perform more Weapon Abilities. Etherial Diapason is so rare, there are only four available in the entire game. Given their scarcity, strategic players should hold onto these for the most challenging boss fights. Here’s how to get Etherial Diapason in Mortal Shell.

How to Get Etherial Diapason in Mortal Shell

Players can get this precious resource both by purchasing it and by looting it from chests around the map. To purchase one, players should see Sester Genessa at Fallgrim Tower and outside all major locations in the game. She has one in stock once she is available for Merchant Services. It will cost the player 5 Glimpses, so it may be a good idea to wait to purchase this one until later in the game.

Players can loot an Etherial Diapason at the Dim Gate. They’ll need to step onto the platform located just beyond where the player meets Brother Corvid.

They can also find an Etherial Diapason at the Enshrined Sanctum. On the way to the Martyr’s Altar there, players will notice a passage to their left. They should enter this passage to find a chest containing the item.

Finally, players will find their last Etherial Diapason on the way back to Fallgrim Tower from the Shifting Archives, about halfway between the two locations.

Players can also find Tainted Nektar, another consumable that will give the player another chance at life when in difficult combat. Tainted Nektar will launch The Foundling from its current Shell without any ejection charge. When used in combat, it can be a risky method of full healing.

Mortal Shell is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
