Sam Esmail’s Mr. Robot doesn’t get the recognition it should. Starring Oscar winner Rami Malek as the paranoid Elliot Alderson, the series is unlike anything you will ever see. Mr. Robot is the perfect representation of a world changed by a few computer code alterations. It’s chaotic and yet so beautiful thanks to the brilliant choice of background music.

The USA Network series released its third season in 2017, showcasing 10 episodes following the events that shocked everyone in season two. Tyrell Wellick shot Elliot, the protagonist, and no one knows how the schizophrenic hacker would react. Without further ado, let’s rank every episode from the third outing of Mr. Robot, according to IMDb.

10 “Eps3.3metadata.par2” (8.5)

In the fourth episode of season three, the pace dies down a bit. It’s like the calm before the storm. The most important bits are when Angela and Tyrell get to know exactly what Elliot has been trying to do to stop stage two. Meanwhile, it looks like Darlene is sick of this whole thing. She has decided to end it all, and she is now working as an informant for the FBI. Also, Tyrell isn’t quite getting this “Elliot is two people” vibe. That’s understandable, as he’s new at this… or is he?

9 “Eps3.8_stage3.torrent” (8.7)

In the ninth episode of season two, Tyrell and Mr. Robot finally realizing that they were the pawns in this game all along. The Dark Army and Whiterose just used them, and now, when they are not needed anymore, their lives could be in jeopardy. This episode dips in pace severely after three back to back incredible episodes.

8 “Eps3.0power-saver-mode.h” (8.8)

The first episode of season three begins precisely where the season two finale left the viewers. Elliot was shot, and he is now recovering with Angela beside him. This whole episode was shot in a powerless New York, which made for a very dark—quite literally—watch.

There were candles being lit and chaos on the streets everywhere. Elliot and Angela’s chemistry is incredible to watch but, she tries to push him away, and the end of the episode tells us exactly why she does it. The tense confrontation between Mr. Robot and Angela is stunningly shot.

7 “Eps3.2legacy.so” (8.8)

The third episode of the third season focuses on the side characters of this violent tale, for a change. Namely, Tyrell’s whereabouts after the season one finale are revealed, and it turns out Irving has been in this game for a longer time than what the viewers thought.

It’s a good episode, featuring the humane side of Tyrell, but his sociopathic capabilities cannot be kept locked away forever. A gaping hole of this story is filled in this hour.

6 “Eps3.6fredrick+tanya.chk” (9.1)

The seventh episode of season two features a lot of characters who are coping with the Cyber Bombings that took place in the last episode. Angela seems to have lost her mind as she now has a lot of blood on her hands. Even Darlene couldn’t get through to her. Whiterose does exactly what the viewers know she is capable of. Philip Price doesn’t follow her orders, and, in turn, she absolutely destroys his world.

5 “Eps3.1undo.gz” (9.2)

In the second episode of season three, Elliot tries to find solutions for E Corp, or Evil Corp, as he likes to say it. The montage of Elliot suggesting measures to protect the company he hates is very weird to see, but he’ll have blood on his hands if he doesn’t find a way to stop stage two.

But Sam Esmail doesn’t like to end an episode without a shock, does he? When everything is going nice and easy, Joanna’s lover kills her in a scene that no one saw coming. What a sad way to end an interesting character.

4 “Eps3.7dont-delete-me.ko” (9.2)

The eighth episode of season two sees guilt catch up with Elliot. Even though it wasn’t totally him who played the part in the Cyber Bombings, it was some part of him—the Mr. Robot part of him—who actually made sure this happened. It’s another good hour of character development, which the viewers wouldn’t want to miss.

3 “eps3.9_shutdown-r” (9.5)

The tenth episode of season three is another incredibly well-executed finale. There’s not much to talk about; it’s just Elliot trying to make amends. With Whiterose on his back, Elliot tries to undo the Five/Nine hack. Dominique is absolutely devastated at the events she is made to see, while Price is revealed to be Angela’s real father—didn’t see that coming, did you.

2 “Eps3.4_runtime-error.r00” (9.7)

If the fourth episode felt like a bit of a downer, the fifth episode of season two blows everyone’s mind. The rush in this 45-minute long story is absolutely breathtaking. Elliot knows he blacked out again, and now he has been fired from E Corp. With Stage two about to begin, he tries everything he can in order to stop The Dark Army.

But he can’t, quite obviously. The best bits of this episode feature Angela as she runs around the E Corp headquarters, trying to do the dirty work for Irving and the Dark Army. Also, the horror on Elliot’s face when he finds out that Darlene and Angela betrayed him is something to see.

1 “Eps3.5kill-pr0cess.inc” (9.7)

Two back to back stunning episodes from Mr. Robot. This one, the season’s sixth episode, is just a little better from the last one, as we see a straight battle between Mr. Robot and Elliot. While Elliot is trying to stop State two from completing, Mr. Robot is doing the exact opposite. It’s scintillating to watch Elliot try to fight himself. Rami Malek is spell-bounding in this episode. He’s at his absolute best.
