The possibility of Ms. Marvel season 2 is addressed by the series’ lead star, Iman Vellani. The MCU’s most recently completed Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel followed the origin story of Pakistani-American teenager Kamala Khan, as brought to life by Vellani. A huge fan of the Avengers, especially Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel, Kamala gained powers of her own after inheriting a mysterious bangle. And, soon enough, Kamala was battling the Clandestines and became a full-fledged hero by the end of the series – when she was last seen somehow swapping places with her idol, Carol.

The end plot of Ms. Marvel is set to be picked up in the MCU’s 2023 film The Marvels, in which Vellani will reprise her role as Kamala. This film will follow Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau as they have to cooperate upon discovering that they swap places with each other every time they use their powers. While not much further is known on the future of Carol, Kamala, and Monica beyond The Marvels at this point, there remains the question of whether there will be more storytelling surrounding Vellani’s Kamala Khan down the line, potentially with Ms. Marvel season 2.

Now, Vellani addresses the possibility of a Ms. Marvel season 2 in an interview with Deadline. When asked to share anything she’s heard about another season of the MCU show she stars in, Vellani says she hasn’t been told anything, but expresses interest in the possibility. Read her full quote below:

Anything I’ve heard? […] They don’t tell me anything. So, you’re not gonna hear anything. […] Hopefully. Yeah, we’ve got to start a petition or something. Yeah.

This isn’t the first time Vellani has shared what she’d like to see come to life in terms of Kamala Khan’s MCU storyline. She previously showed interest in seeing her post-The Marvels life, likening it to Peter Parker’s early arc. Additionally, Ms. Marvel writer Fatimah Asghar has revealed that she wants to see Kamala meet Wolverine in a possible season 2 of the series.

While it is uncertain that Ms. Marvel will be renewed, the future remains promising for Kamala Khan, given her role in the upcoming The Marvels film. Additionally, other than Loki, none of the other live-action MCU Disney+ series have gotten second season orders either, so Ms. Marvel is not alone. Surely, Marvel must be waiting it out to see if they should continue these stories of Marvel heroes via Disney+ series, instead of just bumping them up to the feature films. Regardless, with so many MCU projects lined up, many of these characters, including Ms. Marvel‘s Kamala Khan, are bound to have many appearances in the MCU’s future.
