The first trailer for Marvel’s Ms. Marvel TV show has arrived, and one detail may subtly confirm the new Avengers roster. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing things differently with its Phase 4 as it’s now covering TV shows along with movies, and unlike past projects, these TV series are part of the MCU and some of them even connect directly to some movies. Marvel has a long list of TV projects coming in the near future, and among the ones releasing in 2022 is Ms. Marvel.

For over a decade, the MCU has brought a variety of characters from Marvel Comics to the big screen and now to TV/streaming as well, and one that fans have been waiting for is Kamala Khan a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. Kamala (played by Iman Vellani) will make her long-awaited MCU debut in her own TV show, Ms. Marvel, which will see her struggling to fit in and getting to know her powers. What’s more exciting is that Kamala’s future in the MCU is already guaranteed as she’s confirmed to return in The Marvels alongside her hero, Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), who might be leading the Avengers in this new era.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Avengers: Endgame saw the end of the original Avengers team as Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save the world, Steve Rogers retired, Black Widow also sacrificed herself (for the Soul Stone), and Hawkeye, the Hulk, and Thor went on their own ways. The future of the Avengers team remains a mystery, though many fans hope for a fifth movie with a brand new team. There are many theories on who could be forming the new Avengers team, and the first trailer for Ms. Marvel might have revealed who will be the new Avengers, including (of course) Captain Marvel.

In the first seconds of the trailer, Kamala is shown at school wearing what mean girl Zoe Zimmer (Laurel Marsden) points out to be “another Avengers shirt”. Kamala’s t-shirt has three female heroes: at the center, leading the team, is obviously Captain Marvel, to her left is Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and to her right a character who appears to be Hope van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). The t-shirt has a DIY look, so it’s likely Kamala made it herself with the heroes she looks up to, but still, this could be a fun and subtle hint as to who could return for a potential Avengers 5. It’s worth pointing out that these three characters are from the A-Force team teased in Endgame, and with Pepper Potts retired after Tony’s death, the Guardians of the Galaxy on their own, Wanda/Scarlet Witch dealing with bigger and more obscure stuff, Shuri possibly taking over as Black Panther, and Okoye defending Wakanda, Captain Marvel, Wasp, and Valkyrie make sense as members of a new Avengers team.

Although there have already been different movies and TV shows post-Endgame, the MCU is still in the process of rebuilding itself after the Battle of Earth and Tony’s death, so if a fifth Avengers movie is to happen, it won’t arrive as soon as many would like. It’s to be seen if there’s some truth to the very specific line-up in Kamala’s t-shirt or if Marvel has other plans for the remaining superheroes and a potential new Avengers team, but in the meantime, Ms. Marvel can offer some clues through Kamala’s admiration of the MCU’s female superheroes.
