MTV’s online series Bretman Rock is well worth watching and we’re about to explain why. It’s actually an ideal choice for those who have said their goodbyes to Keeping Up With the Kardashians. These KUWTK fans should give Bretman Rock a try, as the titular show’s star is a social media personality who is famous for blowing up after his contouring video went viral. This video cemented Bretman’s status as a YouTube and Vine content creator. When it comes to reality TV in the post-KUWTK era, there’s always room for family love, drama, and the glamour of a rich and famous lifestyle. The influencer-turned-Web series reality star offers sibling rivalries, traditional recipes, vulnerable transparency, and (naturally) almost nude photoshoots for Instagram.

However, the limelight is nothing new for the YouTube star, who has already grabbed the attention of Forbes, Time Magazine, and New York Fashion Week. Bretman is a Leo who likes things “my way or the highway,” but he does have an awful lot of love to share along the way. Bretman’s MTV journey debuts on a pandemic-friendly film set at a beachfront property in Honolulu, Hawaii, which was recently documented by Architectural Digest. Along with our star, a goofy and delightful entourage follows Bretman, ready to settle in for a true tropical escape.

First up there is Keiffer, also known as Miss Kay, who is Bretman’s cousin and personal assistant. Next up is Bretman’s childhood best friend, Larry. When asked if he would ever date Larry, Bretman says, “next question please,” and “I’m not trying to manifest that sh*t.” It’s hard to say whether the reaction is revulsion to the near-incestuous (Larry responded to Keiffer when paired for a fake prep date by Bretman) or a sign that there may be some history there. In the show’s second episode, the two get busy shaving Bretman from top to bottom. After that, Bretman said, “I honestly don’t think there’s anything Keiffer and Larry wouldn’t do for me, except probably f*ck me.” Bretman emits a sweet but commanding aura, framed by his interview throne, which is a woven chair in shades of lime, ocean blue, and pink. When it comes to family, the show centers on Bretman, his mom, his sister Princess Mae and her kids. The siblings seem to get on each other’s nerves due to a heavy dose of Below Deck-style diva behavior. Even Princess’s daughter goes to bat to protect her mom from Bretman’s shade. At the same time, there’s so much honesty from the cast. Bretman reveals that he spent several years of his childhood with his father in the Philippines while his mom brought his younger siblings, including Princess, to the United States. Bretman gifts his sister three bamboo plants signifying strength for Princess, following their late father’s traditions. Because of the timelines of their upbringings, Bretman had a much stronger relationship with their father. Their father only met with Princess a handful of times when visiting America during Princess Mae’s young adult life. He sadly passed away in recent years.

After a successful sibling training session, Princess asked what Bretman fears the most. He said, “going broke and heights.” Naturally, this leads to a zip line adventure that Princess ironically ends up being more intimidated by than Bretman. Princess said, “I’m already freaking out. I’m scared,” to which Bretman replied, “B*tch, this was your idea! I’ll give you one of my crystals for protection.”

Bretman is already about to premiere in another reality series for YouTube Originals, this time deep in the jungle, where he will be “swapping his glitter for a blade.” While his MTV reality show moment seems to only be the beginning for Bretman, the series will go down in history as a mood-boosting COVID-19 pandemic gem. Hopefully, season two of Bretman Rock is on the horizon.
