On any given day Naruto Uzumaki and Dragon Ball’s Vegeta are two of the toughest, most powerful fighters in manga. If challenged, the odds are they would win against most foes. Those odds increase exponentially if they go into the fight with their strongest forms. But what if the challenge was to defeat a more formidable opponent, such as each other, who would stand supreme?

In both Naruto and Dragon Ball, “forms” refer to a physical and/or mental transformation that a character experiences that serve to increase and upgrade the character’s abilities. Forms can be triggered on-demand as necessary, such as when challenged by a stronger opponent; or involuntarily by some random event or reaction. Indeed, being able to obtain and control stronger forms is generally what separates the great fighters from the lesser ones. Naturally, being two of the top fighters in their respective worlds, Naruto and Vegata have a variety of forms at their disposal.

While many fans believe Naruto’s strongest form is the Six Paths Sage mode, Boruto #52 reveals there is another stronger form, called the Baryon mode. In this mode, Naruto fuses his chakra energy with that of the Nine-Tails Beast sealed inside him. As a result, he produces unique energy that not only upgrades his already impressive abilities to God-level effectiveness but also allows him to drain an opponent’s life energy by laying his hands on them. It’s Naruto’s strongest form but it comes with a major cost. Since it draws on his and the Nine-Tails Beast’s chakra, using it necessarily reduces his life force. The mode only ends when he, the Nine-Tails Beast, or the opponent is completely drained of their energy.

There is also some difference of opinion on which form is Vegeta’s strongest. For many fans, his Super Saiyan 4 form is his most powerful. However, Dragon Ball Super #75, reveals a newer Ultra Ego form that raises his abilities to another level. Indeed, the fact that Vegeta obtained this form by training with Beerus, the God of Destruction, should give fans an idea of how overpowering it is. In this mode, Vegeta’s focus is on one thing only, the destruction of his opponent. Ultra Ego provides Vegeta with a significant bump in all the powers and abilities.  However, its secret power is that it also allows him to increase his strength with each hit an opponent lands. Of course, the form has a weakness. Once the power obtained in battle overcomes Vegeta’s ability to endure it, he weakens significantly.

So, which strongest form will carry the day? It seems clear that Naruto’s Baryon mode is the more effective. This is especially true when Naruto figures out the weakness of the Ultra Ego form. Naruto and Vegeta are skilled and experienced enough that neither will gain the upper hand in the melee. Accordingly, success will rely on the form’s other skills. For Vegeta, each hit makes him stronger, which makes his attacks on Naruto more powerful. Conversely, with each hit that Naruto lands, Vegeta becomes more powerful but at the risk of becoming overpowered. Understanding that his time is limited and that Vegeta’s destructive mentality will make him the aggressor, Naruto simply needs to engage an all-out attack on Vegeta as quickly and forcefully as possible. Once Dragon Ball‘s Vegeta is overcome with too much power and begins to weaken, Naruto can step back and let the Baryon form’s energy-draining abilities go to work. Surely, a weakened Vegeta won’t be able to last as long as a Naruto Uzumaki still in Baryon mode.
