Netflix’s He-Man: 10 Characters We Can’t Wait To See Return, Ranked

As if giving Invader Zim and Rocko’s Modern Life belated specials wasn’t enough, Netflix recently announced that they’d be picking up another beloved nostalgic cartoon. This time around it’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, the incredibly popular show from the ‘80s that followed He-Man on his fantastical fight against Skeletor’s forces. The show was also made to sell some sweet action figures.

Set to be overseen and written by Kevin Smith, Masters of the Universe: Revelations is billed as a continuation of the original series that promises to bring the unresolved storylines to a close. Even if details are currently scarce, this news has us excited over the prospect of seeing some familiar names and faces return. Here are the ones we’re most hyped about!

10 Beast Man

Possibly the most noticeable of Skeletor’s henchmen, Beast Man is the strongest and fiercest of the warlord’s forces. Beast Man is also a little lacking in the brains department, making him a source of annoyance for Skeletor and walking punchline for just about everyone else. Yes, we want his unique brand of comic relief again.

9 Battle-Cat

While Cringer may be a literal scaredy-cat without the powers of Greyskull, he’s still a great friend who’s there for Prince Adam. Seeing He-Man ride into battle in his latest show without his trusty tiger would only make Eternia’s bravest champion look vulnerable.

8 Orko

However, Orko would come through at the last minute when his magic is (conveniently) needed the most. The goofy floating magician with a knack for accidentally wreaking havoc isn’t someone who can be left out in any take on Masters of the Universe.

7 The Sorceress

Aside from her strong magic, she can also transform into a falcon named Zoar and project her face telepathically to the heroes, which has since become the source of many laughs. That, and she was a deus ex machina who managed to teleport He-Man and friends away from danger or gave them a power-up with suspiciously great timing. Obviously, He-Man needs her if he wants to keep on winning.

6 Man-at-Arms

While his design is as colorful and crazy as expected of an ‘80s cartoon character, Man-at-Arms is also one of the Masters’ voices of reason. He also has a sick mustache and laser blasters strapped to his wrists, so of course he has to appear in the coming revival.

5 Evil-Lyn

Evil-Lyn is a villainess who relishes in her evilness, hamming it up every chance she gets even while Skeletor chews the scenery. She was a joy to watch in the original cartoons and it’d be a mistake not to bring her back.

4 Teela

Not only do we want to see Teela return in all her glory, but we hope that she gets a contemporary update. Her original incarnations usually painted her as a glorified love interest who just so happened to fight, so our fingers are crossed that she’ll be better than before.

3 He-Man

In hindsight, He-Man is an incredibly childish definition of peak masculinity, which only adds to his appeal – both ironic and otherwise. He-Man also openly enjoyed his adventures with friends, which made his show fun to watch back in its heyday. Hopefully, his return will keep his undying optimism and cheesiness intact.

2 Skeletor

In the years after Masters of the Universe ended, Skeletor slowly but surely overshadowed He-Man in terms of popularity. The skeletal warlord owes his continued relevance to his lovably villainous characterization in the cartoons, and of course, Alan Oppenheimer’s irreplaceable voice work. In this age of self-serious antagonists, we need Skeletor and his villainous sass to come back more than ever.

1 She-Ra

Originally, She-Ra had a few crossovers with He-Man but mostly kept to herself in her solo series. Since the new Masters of the Universe will also premier on Netflix, it’s possible that their connections will finally be acknowledged. We can’t wait to see the new She-Ra join forces with her predecessors.
