Julie and the Phantoms is a new Netflix series based on the Brazilian series Julie e os Fantasmas that follows Julie as she tries to get back into music after her mother’s recent death. She meets three ghosts who were in a band together before their death and the four begin a new band called Julie and the Phantoms.

The cast of Julie and the Phantoms is talented in their acting and singing ability and has numerous moments to show off their musical talents throughout the first season. The show is filled with unique characters, both good and bad, and a great soundtrack.

10 Love: Julie

Julie is the main character of the recent Netflix teen series, Julie and the Phantoms, and she’s a very likable protagonist. The audience immediately connects to her as she struggles to cope with her mother’s recent death and reconnecting with her love for music.

She’s a lovable and relatable character who loves her friends and family and tries to make decisions that will benefit everyone.

9 Hate: Caleb Covington

Caleb Covington is a smooth-talking ghostly magician who runs an extravagant night club consisting of multiple ghost performers. He’s an incredibly talented singer and performer, but he’s also the main villain of the first season.

Caleb targets the phantoms for his nightclub even though none of them wants to join him for eternity especially since they’ve started a band with Julie. Caleb is a character that fans love to hate and will likely be back for more villainous deeds given the ending of the first season.

8 Love: Flynn

Flynn is Julie’s best friend and the two have a healthy relationship and are always supportive of each other. They tell each other everything and Flynn knows that Julie is lying about the hologram band and Julie tells Flynn the truth, proving that the phantoms in the band are literally ghosts.

Flynn is stylish and musically talented just like Julie and everyone wishes for a best friend like Flynn, especially in a teen comedy.

7 Hate: Nick

Nick is introduced as a possible love interest for Julie and adds a teen rom-com side plot to the Netflix series. Nick isn’t a terrible or evil character, but compared to the rest of the school and other characters within the show, Nick doesn’t stand up and is relatively boring.

He doesn’t add much to the plot besides being Julie’s possible love interest even though it’s clear she has more chemistry with Luke. Nick might have more significance to the plot in future seasons given the ending scene of the first season.

6 Love: Reggie

Reggie is one of the three phantoms who is brought back when Julie plays their old album. He’s the bassist of the band but also sings and has a fun grunge 1990s fashion style.

Reggie enjoys being around Julie and her family and, like the other phantoms, is doing his best to cope with their new reality of being part of the band and only seen when they’re playing.

5 Hate: Carrie

Carrie used to be best friends with Julie and Flynn but broke off to form her own band called Dirty Candy which performs high-energy generic pop songs and each member has their own brightly colored wig and outfit.

Carrie’s father is Trevor Wilson, the phantom’s old bandmate when they were alive in Sunset Curve, and Carrie is a typical bully to Julie and Flynn out of jealousy mostly. Hopefully, the three can put their differences behind them in later seasons.

4 Love: Luke

Luke is the lead singer and guitarist of the phantoms and songwriter for most of their work as well. He’s the most excited about the idea of a band with Julie and the two become close while working on their act together.

He loves his bandmates like brothers and has a more serious separate storyline where he tries to communicate with his grieving parents.

3 Hate: Trevor Wilson

Halfway through the first season, the phantoms learn that their old bandmate stole their songs and became an extremely successful musician without giving them any credit for their work or taking care of their families after their deaths.

The three understandably want revenge and try to haunt Trevor. Trevor sees a performance from Julie and the Phantoms and recognizes his old bandmates and is completely shocked to see them playing with Julie.

2 Love: Alex

Alex is the drummer of the phantoms band and a very lovable character. He cares deeply for his bandmates Reggie and Luke, but he has the most difficulty coping with their new situation in the afterlife.

He meets Willie, another ghost, and the two begin a loving relationship that’s easily one of the most adorable things about the show.

1 Love: Willie

Willie and Alex immediately become close as Willie teaches Alex about ghost life and it’s clear there’s romance in the future for the two, but there is also teen angst introduced to the Netflix series as Willie has to decide whether he wants to risk Caleb’s wrath by saving Alex and the phantoms.

Alex and Willie have a sweet and adorable relationship in their afterlife and the two have quickly become fan-favorites and their relationship will hopefully be explored in later seasons.
