When Kristy Thomas has her “great idea” to start a group so that parents in Stoneybrook, Connecticut can always hire a reliable babysitter, she’s clearly got a mind for business. Sure, she’s still young, but the charm of Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club is that the main characters are pretty wise for their ages.

The girls are best pals and what’s so great about their friendship is that they each are unique and different. It’s interesting to think about all of the main characters, from the babysitters to their parents to the little girl that they look after, in terms of how smart everyone is.

10 Watson Brewer

Kristy’s stepfather Watson Brewer (Mark Feuerstein) is the least intelligent character on the show. While he’s nice enough, he really doesn’t seem to the sharpest crayon in the Kid Kit.

It’s very sweet that Kristy’s mom has found love again and that Watson’s going to be a father figure for her children, but besides that, he doesn’t bring a lot to the table. Perhaps fans will get to know him better if there’s a second season.

9 Sharon Porter

Dawn Schafer’s mom, Sharon Porter (Jessica Elaina Eason), is flaky and definitely lives in a fantasy world. She’s a good mom, that’s for sure, and she cares about her daughter, but she seems to have trouble with follow-through.

Dawn is the one who seems to be setting up their new house in Stoneybrook, for one thing, and it seems like Sharon should take more of a parental role.

8 Karen Brewer

Sophia Reid-Gantzert’s character, Karen Brewer, is adorable and seems smart at first. She says a lot of funny, great quotes and she lets everyone in on the scary secrets of Stoneybrook.

But as the season progresses, it becomes clear that Karen is definitely a young kid, and she’s not as intelligent as some of the other characters. The worst thing that she does is running away from camp and trying to take a bus back home. That’s not very smart as that could have gotten dangerous fast.

7 Richard Spier

Mary Anne’s father Richard Spier (Marc Evan Jackson) does have some intelligence, as he seems to be a successful businessman, but besides that, he doesn’t really know how to connect with his daughter.

He thinks that keeping Mary Anne safe means not letting her do things that normal kids are allowed to, and even a simple sleepover is a huge deal for him. He’s just not very perceptive.

6 Kristy Thomas

Even though Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace) has the bright idea to start the club, she has a lot of learning to do about life. She’s mean to her mom on her wedding day, which is definitely not cool, and she can be really mean to other people when she doesn’t get her way.

While Kristy does have some intelligence, as she’s ambitious and knows what she wants, she should know when she needs to sit back and learn something instead of needing to take over everything because she thinks she knows best.

5 Claudia Kishi

Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada) is a very creative person who is more street smart than school smart.

While Claudia doesn’t necessarily apply herself in school, it’s because she’s just not interested. She wants to make art and that’s where her talents lie. Claudia might not be as book smart as Mary Anne, for instance, but she does understand how to help out her friends when they’re feeling down. She also stands up for what she believes in, like the unfairness of art supplies costing too much at camp.

4 Dawn Schafer

Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) is passionate, smart, and energetic. She’s one of the most intelligent characters on the show as she can tell when someone is worth defending and protecting.

While Dawn might push her luck at times, like when she’s reading the morning announcements at Camp Moosehead and tries to put her own spin on it to discuss current events, she’s ultimately very smart. She just lets her emotions get the best of her sometimes.

3 Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer

Kristy’s mother Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer (Alicia Silverstone) is one of the most intelligent characters because she has a lot of emotional intelligence.

She can tell that Kristy doesn’t love the new family dynamic and she does everything that she can to make everything okay again. She’s perceptive, understanding, and also really great at her job. Elizabeth manages to balance a changing family with her career, and she’s an admirable person with a good head on her shoulders.

2 Stacey McGill

Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph) is one of the smartest characters on the show. She delights the other girls by sharing that she can help run the club’s finances as she’s great at math, business, and marketing.

Sure, at first Stacey might seem like all she cares about is clothes, but she’s a very intelligent young person who has a bright future ahead of her. She’s also intelligent enough to manage her diabetes and seems to have a really good handle on it.

1 Mary Anne Spier

Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker) is definitely the smartest character on The Baby-Sitters Club.

She might have a rough, slow start, as she has trouble speaking up, but she gets over her fears and starts to stick up for herself and others in the community. She knows right from wrong and does her best to learn from her mistakes and do better each time.
