The new Netflix show Tiger King covered several years of shenanigans involving the king himself, Joe Exotic. Viewers everywhere clicked on the documentary expecting to learn a bit about tigers in the zoo, but what they got was a show unlike any other with too many scandals to count! There’s a reason the series is called Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.

Joe Exotic has certainly done some pretty interesting things in his lifetime. From marrying multiple men at once to making lip-syncing country videos, there’s certainly no lack of entertainment surrounding him. If you think that’s crazy, take a look at these other ten wacky things Joe did:

10 Read Carole’s Diary On Video

Some way or another, Joe obtained a copy of Carole’s diary, although there is no proof that it is actually hers. He read through it on several videos posted online, and he claimed that he wanted to try to figure out what could have driven her to possibly murder her missing husband Don.

A lot of what Joe reads is Carole complaining about Don and their relationship together. She said he had a lot of complaints about her, and she hoped that her daughter would never be in the same kind of “perverted” relationship. Joe did have a disclaimer that things he said were just his own opinion, but that doesn’t make it any less rude to broadcast someone’s private journal!

9 Named His Company Big Cat Entertainment

Carole Baskin operates a large rescue sanctuary for big cats called Big Cat Rescue, and it is the top search on Google when looking up information about big cats. When Joe was going around to malls with his big cats to do appearances, pettings, and photos, he decided to name that part of his company Big Cat Rescue Entertainment.

When searching online for Carole’s website, people would also come across Joe’s entertainment company and think that they were connected in some way. Joe even made the logo very similar! He claims that the name just came from the fact that he has big cats that he rescues, and they entertain people, but it sure is fishy.

8 Spoke About Testicles At A Funeral

In 2017, Joe’s husband Travis was tragically killed when he accidentally fired his gun at himself. Joe was understandably upset, but he was able to pull himself together and speak at the funeral to honor Travis. He mentioned the love that he and Travis shared, but things got a bit strange. Joe started to talk about how Travis would bother Joe while Joe was on the computer by rubbing his private bits in Joe’s face.

He said that everyone who worked with Travis knew what Joe was talking about because everyone had seen Travis’ southern parts at some point. Not the classiest thing to talk about at a funeral, especially in front of Travis’ mother!

7 Blew Up His Possessions

In the middle of the famous feud between Carole and Joe, Carole filed a lawsuit against Joe and supposedly wanted specific items of his has settlement. Joe responded to this by getting rid of the things she wanted so that she couldn’t have them. He didn’t just throw them away or donate them; he destroyed them in a rather showy way.

He would strap dynamite to the items and then shoot at them with his gun, and all of this was recorded and posted. From his watch to his bed, things were blown up one by one.

We’re not sure if the rumor that Carole murdered her husband and fed him to her tigers was started by Joe or not, but he definitely amped it up several notches and made it spread like wildfire! Joe had a song written about his theory of what happened to Don, and he made a music video with a look-alike Carole acting out the feeding frenzy.

She stood by a tiger cage with a plate of meat and a mannequin head as she fed a tiger and a lion piece by piece. The song is called “Here Kitty Kitty,” and it currently has over four and a half million views on YouTube.

5 Ran For President And Governor

Joe Exotic decided to run for president of the United States in the 2016 election even though he had no prior political experience. When he lost, he decided to run for governor of Oklahoma in 2018, claiming that he could not wait another four years to run again.

He had no idea what he was going to do if he won either election and according to his campaign manager Joshua Dial, he didn’t even know what a libertarian was, despite running under the title. Still, Joe had charisma and got plenty of votes. He even handed out condoms with his face on them to get people to vote.

4 Served Expired Meat To The Public

Joe and his zoo had quite a lot of animals to feed, and meat doesn’t come cheap. To help with expenses, Joe worked out a deal with the local Walmart; whatever meat they couldn’t sell, he would take it and give the “good” meat to his tigers and other animals.

Eventually, a man named James Garretson gave Joe $14,000 to open a pizza place at the zoo, where guests could enjoy a nice slice of pizza made from scratch while sitting next to a tiger cage. What these unsuspecting customers probably didn’t realize is that the meat from the pizza was being taken from the Walmart truck. Does anyone need a barf bag?

3 Destroyed Evidence Against Him

Joe got himself into his fair share of trouble in the past couple of years, and eventually, the law started to get involved. He found out that he was being investigated for something, but he wasn’t sure what it was. The new CEO of the zoo, Jeff Lowe, caught Joe embezzling money and signing Jeff’s name to several dozen legal documents.

Joe decided to get rid of the evidence against him, so he set fire to a large pile of transfer papers, other records, and even laptops. He told Josh to wipe the computers clean, and soon Joe left town. All of this certainly does not look good!

2 Threatened Carole Repeatedly

Joe and Carole have been in a battle for years, and they are always accusing each other of something and trying to get the other’s facility shut down. Joe seemed to take it too far, always making it personal and even threatening Carole. On one of his internet shows, he said that for Carole’s birthday, he was going to send her snakes.

Carole did find snakes in her mailbox one time, but it was unknown where they had come from. The threats didn’t stop there. Joe had a blow-up doll that was meant to be Carole, and he shot at it with one of his guns. He also said that he would have her head in a jar before the feud was over.

1 Hired A Hit Man

Today, Joe Exotic sits in jail for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill Carole Baskin. His security guard Marc Thompson claimed that Joe asked him to take care of the problem in Florida, but Marc refused. Then Joe supposedly asked the handyman Allen Glover to do it, and he even paid him $3,000.

Joe says that he gave the money to Allen under the CEO Jeff’s orders, and he insists that he was set up. Several friends and colleagues believe this as well, and Jeff himself said that he pushed Joe into saying things so that they could be recorded and used against him. Although nothing happened to Carole, Joe was found guilty in his trial, but many fans believe him to be innocent.
