The popular Netflix’s You is a tale about a psychopath who goes to unimaginable lengths in order to insert himself in the lives of the girls he falls for. The series is very unpredictable and it is full of twists and turns.

The protagonist of the show – Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is somewhat similar to Dexter Morgan (Dexter), as he is not an out and out monster. Instead, he has a moral code but one can’t tell when he will lose his cool.

Over the series’ two seasons so far, the fans have been treated to some surprising scenes. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of them.

10 Gabe Tries To Cure Joe’s Demons

In season 2, when Love gets away from him and finds a new boyfriend, Joe, in his typical way, follows the “new guy.” But, unexpectedly, he meets Gabe (one of Love’s best friends) there. And Gabe quickly figures out what’s the problem with Joe.

So, he takes him home and performs some kind of ritual. He keeps a little block on Joe’s chest and then proceeds to ask some simple questions. Those questions lead to flashbacks depicting Joe’s dreadful childhood.

Gabe of all people helped Joe realize the power of loving himself and “he’s okay with that.”

9 Peach Finds Joe Spying

To get Guinevere Beck, both Peach and Joe fight each other pulling off one mind game after another. Peach’s ultimate plan to have Beck all by herself was to lure her to Paris. And she told that to Beck in her house at Greenwich.

But, Joe was already there, safely stalking both Peach and Beck. When the dust settles and Beck leaves for New York, Peach finds Joe in the house and both of them recognize each other for the sociopaths they are.

After that, there is a tussle and Joe comes out on top as he murders Peach and makes it look like a suicide.

8 Forty Goes To Meet Dr. Nicky

After Candace reveals all the truth to Forty – about Joe being a killer and she being there to protect him and his family – he sets out to seek the truth and speaks to goes to visit Dr. Nicky in jail.

His curiosity leads him to ask Dr. Nicky about Beck’s murder and he even shows the former therapist an image of Joe. From their conversation, Forty recognizes the hints and becomes sure that Candace was speaking the truth.

7 Forty Shot Dead By David

After getting to know the truth about Joe, Forty called him and told him to visit Nirvana. Joe reached there with Love and Forty was holding a gun. He started threatening Joe telling Love he is a monster (which Love already knows).

Then, when Forty is about to pull the trigger and seal Joe’s fate, out of nowhere, David Fincher (Delilah’s lover cop) shoots Forty dead. Well, If only David knew he was saving someone responsible for Delilah’s death.

6 Will Gets Out Of Joe’s Cage

When Joe reaches LA, he looks for a new identity and he contacts Will Bettelheim. But, of course, Joe doesn’t have that kind of money to afford a new identity. So, Joe lures Will into a trap, hits him on the head, and traps him in his cage.

But, unlike others, Joe lets Will out of the cage after making sure that he trusts him. And, that means, as of this moment, Will is the only person to come out of Joe’s cage with every part of his body intact.

5 Finger Chopping

After taking Will’s identity, Joe comes to know of a man named Jasper who is owed $50000 from the real Will. And the first time Joe meets him, things take an unexpected turn. Joe tells Jasper that he is almost ready to pay him back but then, out of nowhere, Jasper approaches Joe, keeps his hand on a table and chops his finger off.

The scene itself was horrifying, to say the least, and it summed up You almost perfectly. You just never know what might happen.

4 Candace Reappears

In season 1, there are brief mentions about Joe’s past and there’s always this name he keeps talking about – Candace. When he follows Peach and Beck to Greenwich, there are numerous scenes where Joe imagines Candace and the show makes it seem like Candace is dead or something bad happened to her.

So, imagine the surprise when Candace reappears right after Joe kills Beck. Joe sees her and is absolutely shocked. No one would have even imagined that Joe’s ex might show up alive, with the emphasis on alive.

3 Paco Doesn’t Help Beck Escape

This is one of the most disturbing scenes in You. When Beck is able to fool Joe into thinking that she understands why he killed both Peach and Benji, Joe lets Beck out of the cage. And, as soon as that happens, Beck attacks Joe and locks him inside the cage.

She then runs towards the exit door, which is locked and there, she sees Paco staring at her. Beck pleads with Paco to help her and tells him that Joe is trying to do bad things to her but the kid doesn’t do anything. After the near escape, Joe manages to get rid of Beck, for good.

Paco could have easily called for help but he didn’t and that might have left a lasting impact on the fans.

2 The Kidnapping

When Joe is all set to leave LA for good, he is stopped by Forty. Love’s brother tells him that they have a script (for a movie on Beck’s book) to finish. Right then, two people come out of nowhere and kidnap both Joe and Forty.

They are taken to a hotel, where Forty reveals that he ordered their kidnap so that both of them can concentrate and get in the groove of writing a script. After hearing this, Joe absolutely loses it as he has other pressing matters to deal with. Like Delilah escaping from his cage and telling the police about him.

1 Love’s Reveal

After Candace catches Joe red-handed with Delilah’s dead body inside the cage, she immediately calls Love and locks Joe up. After seeing the body, Love goes outside and vomits (as any normal human being would). But then, she takes a broken glass bottle and kills Candace with it, leaving the fans shocked.

She even managed to surprise and scare someone like Joe, which is not an easy feat, considering the number of kills he has done. Love, in that very scene, also reveals that she is the one who killed Delilah as she was coming in between Joe and her.

No one might have seen this coming. It’s like Joe and Love are made for each other. But then again, Joe wants to keep himself entertained.
