Some sad news for fans of Avatar: the Last Airbender has been announced. Those who have been patiently awaiting the June release of the latest addition to the ATLA comic collection, Avatar: the Last Airbender – Suki Alone, will be disappointed to discover that it has unfortunately been delayed.

Set to complete the trifecta of female-centered ATLA comic books that have recently been released, with stories centered around both Katara and Toph being the previous two, this comic finally puts the spotlight on everyone’s favorite Kyoshi warrior (besides Kyoshi herself that is). Unlike most of the ATLA comics, which take place after the series and continue the adventure, Avatar: the Last Airbender – Suki Alone actually takes place during the timeline of the series, meaning that one can jump into this book without having read any of the other previous comics. The story will feature Suki being captured by the Fire Nation and separated from the Aang gang as well as her fellow Kyoshi warriors. Trapped alone in a prison located inside a volcano, Suki turns to the other prisoners in an effort to build her own community and survive.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Originally Avatar: the Last Airbender – Suki Alone was slated to drop later this very month on June 22, but it seems that the book has now been pushed out. The new release date for the Dark Horse Comics title is now set to be July 27, a little more than a month from initially planned. While this is most definitely saddening for those that have been counting down the days, one month isn’t the longest delay a comic has ever received, so on the bright side the wait won’t be too much longer.

After news of new animated Avatar: the Last Airbender content in the works at Paramount+, fans are more eager than ever to get their hands on anything ATLA related, so this delay definitely comes as a bit of a blow. But the fact that a franchise as old as this is still receiving brand new content is something to be thankful for as whole. With the possibility of a new Avatar: the Legend of Korra comic in the works, as well as an upcoming children-oriented Avatar: the Last Airbender comic series launching just around the corner, the universe of Avatar doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

This Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novel centered around Suki is written by Faith Erin Hicks and illustrated by Peter Wartman, with colors by Adele Matera. Be sure to head to your local comic shop on July 27 to snag your copy of Avatar: the Last Airbender – Suki Alone and find out what happens!
