Winston sure goes through a lot of changes during his time on New Girl. He originally seems to be the voice of reason, as he is far less eccentric than his other roommates. Then, this ends up becoming the exact opposite, as he progressively becomes stranger and stranger, which makes him even more of a fan favorite. However, no matter what type of personality Winston has during certain parts of the series, there is one constant in the fact that he is still hilarious.

When looking at the entire series, though, there are a handful of specific scenes that stand out the most with him. This is due to the fact that they provide a lot of overall comedy, as Winston knows how to carry them. Through them, it is easy for fans to argue that he is the funniest character within the group, as they provide great evidence to back that claim up.

At the end of the day, Winston is just a wonderful character who will forever warrant praise for not only his humor, but also his kind heart.

10 When He Sings While Driving To Mexico

With Shelby in Mexico, Winston decides to take a drive there, as he misses her. Winston does not know that Schmidt and Cece are in the trunk, as they are still secretly dating at this point of the series.

Winston believes he is alone, so he starts singing “Defying Gravity” in a beautiful, falsetto voice. It is one of the first scenes that shows Winston’s quirky side. Also, once arriving at the border, he finds out they are back there, which results in even more humor.

9 When He Gets Scared In The Desert

Nick decides to move out so he can live with Caroline. When driving the moving truck to his new apartment, Nick ends up freaking out and drives to the desert. From there, he chucks his keys away, which terrifies Winston.

Winston is petrified of werewolves and thinks that he is in grave danger. Things get worse when Jess goes there and throws her keys away, too, and Winston runs away in deep fear. Thankfully, though, it all gets resolved, but Winston’s mannerisms in this episode provide some of the best comic relief.

However, the real humor comes in when Winston makes the prank far too large, as he puts a wild badger in the air vents. Even though he is in immense danger, Winston plays it off nonchalantly. This is also the case after the fact, as he asks the bartender politely to call 911, as he is “bleeding out.”

7 When He “Studies” For His Police Exam

After his basketball career comes to a close, Winston has a lot of trouble finding a new career path. After taking on an abundance of short-term positions, he decides that he wants to be a cop.

However, the process of getting there is hard for him, as he just cannot focus when studying for the police exam. In fact, he does not study at all and instead does an array of different activities. This includes him decorating his room with paper snowflakes, which is a clear sign of procrastination. However, it does end up working in the end, as he does become a cop later down the road.

6 When He Does Puzzles

As the series continues, it becomes known that Winston is a huge fan of puzzles. This is understandable, as it can be a very fun hobby to partake in. However, the humor comes in when seeing how he acts while doing them.

Winston becomes extremely intense while working on his puzzles and is quick to agitation. It becomes humorous because of his delivery whilst doing so. Also, it becomes even more humorous because he has significant trouble finishing them. In fact, he even uses a piece of an almond to try to finish it.

5 When He Sings To Furguson

When Winston meets Furguson, his initial plan is to kill him, as he sees it as revenge against Daisy for cheating on him. However, he instead elects to steal him from her. Thus, this would begin one of the purest friendships in the series.

A specific scene that shows how funny their dynamic is occurs when Winston sings to Furguson about them sharing pasta. The rest of the group finds the behavior strange, but Winston does not mind. In fact, as the show goes on, he becomes even funnier with it, as he takes selfies with his furry friend every single day.

4 When He Leaves Cece A Voicemail

Cece is having a very hard time accepting that Schmidt has moved on, as her feelings for him are still deep. Thus, she decides to climb a mountain to get away from the situation. However, once it becomes known that Schmidt breaks up with Fawn, Winston immediately calls her.

Sadly, Cece does not have reception and misses the call. Yet, this results in one of the funniest voicemails of all time, as Winston’s way of delivering the message to her is just too good. His uses hilarious language, as evidenced by starting it with “it’s your girl, Winston.” As the cherry on top, he throws Jess’ phone away when he is done talking, rather than just hanging it up.

3 When He Meets “His Dad”

After believing she finds his dad, Jess surprises Winston by having him come over. Winston experiences an array of emotions before he visits, which is entirely understandable, as his father abandoned him as a child.

However, the connection that Winston has with his fake dad is hilarious, as the two bond over their shirts and even prepare to wrestle. They both act so similarly, so it is disappointing when it turns out that they are not actually related. Yet, his short time with his fake dad is still a fun moment.

2 When He Sees Color For The First Time

Winston receives glasses as part of a study that allows him to see color, after a lifetime of being color blind. This is a big moment, and when he puts the glasses on, he is thrilled and excited to understand all the things he has never seen before.

His reaction to it is greatly exaggerated, as he screams, but that is what ultimately makes it so humorous. However, the icing on the cake is when he finds out that he despises the color blue and becomes angry when seeing it. It takes a beautiful moment and makes it chaotic, which fits quite well with Winston in general.

1 When He Pranks Nick And Jess To Move

When the show reaches its finale, it is revealed that Nick and Jess are being evicted from the loft. This results in the duo needing to find a new place to live, which is a huge step and quite emotional, as the loft is where they all become close.

After a night full of nostalgia whilst packing, the group helps them fill up the moving van. When they close it, though, a picture of Winston is on the back and it says “Gotcha!” From there, Winston explains how this is all a giant prank, which is just diabolical, yet extremely well-thought-out. After Nick screams, he tells everyone to get in the truck and they drive away in the show’s final scene.
