Just barely a week after launch, one of the photo requests in New Pokémon Snap has been discovered to be broken. The request worked in the base copy of the game, but the day-one patch changed an event, rendering it impossible. So far, it is the only request reported to be non-functional.

Shortly after starting New Pokémon Snap, Professor Mirror and other characters will start giving the player requests. The requests typically ask for a Pokémon in a particular pose or for multiple Pokémon together. The player has to use their abilities to manipulate the creatures into performing the action, before snapping a picture. More requests are given as new areas and research levels are unlocked. These act as challenges/side missions to complete, with approximately 200 available.

Unfortunately, one of these requests is impossible, due to the ver 1.1.0 patch. As reported by Dexerto, the “Proud Warrior” quest found in the Shiver Snowfield cannot be completed. The request tasks the player with luring a Furret out of a hole with Fluffruit, then taking a picture of it along with a Braviary attacking it over the fruit. This sounds easy on paper, but the update made it so Furret will never emerge. Braviary won’t even land to take a snack because Furret doesn’t appear. This means the desired photo can not be taken.

Translation: If you cut the net and proceed to the snowy mountain at night with ver1.0.0. I was able to clear “Proud Warrior.” There is a theory that it can not be cleared with Ver 1.1.0, but it may be true.

It was possible to finish in the ver1.0.0 edition of the game, as discovered by Twitter user pokemon_game8. This was verified by Dexerto. It is possible to reset the game and restore ver 1.0.0, but it still wouldn’t be playable, because the ver 1.1.0 update is required to launch the game and is a forced download on any Switch connected to the internet. A console without internet access would work, but it would still necessitate a complete reinstall of New Pokémon Snap.

The issue was only discovered two days ago as of this writing. While there has been no word from Nintendo on if the issue will be patched, it’s likely that the company will want to fix this problem as soon as possible. Still, New Pokémon Snap players will want to avoid the “Proud Warrior” request until it’s patched. With hundreds of more requests to fulfill, there shouldn’t be any problem finding another way to pass the time.
