Twelve Minutes was one of the most anticipated games of 2021, and although many of its mysteries have been solved since it launched in August, there are some that still remain. The title’s controversial twist ending has been much debated online thanks to polarized player opinions and various shades of ambiguity, while the game’s top-down viewpoint even means that things like people’s faces have been obscured. However, a set of posters Screen Rant can exclusively debut has finally given players a better look at these characters.

Developed by Luís António, Twelve Minutes is the story of a man who comes home to his small apartment, only for he and his wife to be attacked by a vicious intruder. Suddenly, the man reappears back in the apartment twelve minutes prior, stuck in a time loop where he must try and solve the reason behind this assault and save himself and his wife from the attack that is destined to come. Featuring James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe, it’s a star-studded cast that gained some very positive reviews for what becomes an intense gaming experience.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Screen Rant can exclusively reveal three character posters for the small but perfectly formed cast of Twelve Minutes. From the main character of the Husband to the mysterious Intruder played by Willem Dafoe, it’s the first chance for players to get a proper glimpse at the faces behind this tense time-loop thriller. Check out the posters below.

Twelve Minutes – The Husband (James McAvoy)

The Husband returns home to a romantic meal and unforgettable news, before the evening is destroyed by an intruder. Stuck in a twelve minute time loop, he must try and break the cycle by any means necessary.

Twelve Minutes – The Wife (Daisy Ridley)

The Wife initially appears as shocked at the attack as the Husband, but the final moments of that first loop suggests there is more going on than meets the eye. Exactly how much does she know about the Intruder and his purpose?

Twelve Minutes – The Intruder (Willem Dafoe)

The Intruder claims to be a police officer, entering the couple’s apartment on this authority. But, since when did the police use cable ties as part of a day-to-day investigation?

Some fans of Twelve Minutes will no doubt be pleased to get a better look at the three main characters, having only been able to piece them together based on brief looks as the characters lie down during certain gameplay loops, or through the blurred vision of a door’s peep hole. That said, Twelve Minutes certainly works well enough without the need to put a face to a name, with the excellent voice acting of the trio going a lot of the legwork.

Not everyone adored Twelve Minutes, however, with the game proving to be somewhat divisive with both players and critics, where the reception was a little bit mixed thanks to its levels of violence and various plot twists. This is perhaps to be expected in a game with such a bold nature, and the title has its fair share of stellar responses. Some of these can be seen in Twelve Minutes‘ new accolades trailer below, which also shares that the game will release for PS4, PS5, and Switch on 7 December.

Whether players love or hate Twelve Minutes, it’s impossible to deny that the game has had an impact. The game found a wide audience for its Hitchcockian mystery thanks to its release as part of the Xbox Game Pass, and has even resulted in fun fan projects like an apartment recreations in The Sims. Even if it’s not for everyone, hopefully Twelve Minutes will continue to find a home with those that appreciate it.

Twelve Minutes is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and releases for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on 7 December 2021.
