New Weather Types Animal Crossing: New Horizons Should Add

The snow has melted on Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands in the Northern Hemisphere, and players are starting to see the lush grass and green leaves of spring. With spring events just around the corner and a summer of swimming, diving, and fishing ahead, the only inclement weather patterns players might encounter are the occasional rainstorms that soak the flowerbeds and fruit trees. To shake up the sunshine and soggy drizzles, Animal Crossing: New Horizons should introduce different kinds of weather for players to muck through while they look for the treasure scattered around their homes.

Because rain is already a weather pattern in Animal Crossing, adding thunderstorms could be a way to expand the different types of wet weather players can experience. Thick storm clouds, heavy rain, and brilliant flashes of lightning could add some excitement to the hot months of summer. Lightning storms could also drop special treasures; “Lightning Fragments” could be used like Animal Crossing‘s Star Fragments to craft a series of storm-themed items. Players could make shocking furniture, special raincoats and hoodies, or even craft stormy wallpaper to give their bedroom a special ambiance.

Hail storms in the springtime could also shake up the warming weather for Animal Crossing players. Chunks of hail could smash down into beaches, creating piles players could remove with a shovel the following day. Some piles could hide treasures, like DIY recipes or “Ice Fragments.” Much like the “Lightning Fragments,” these could allow players to craft a chilly series of decorations and outfits – or even new storm-themed wands.

New Animal Crossing Weather Types Could Create New DIY Recipes

Certain types of weather could have effects on the player’s island, like creating the chance for special new Animal Crossing flowers mutations. Flowers that bloom on the day of special weather events could change depending on the weather pattern present. Players could get lightning flowers that crackle when picked or stepped on, or hail flowers that have a dusting of sparkly frost on them. Sunny flowers could twinkle and glow in the sunshine, and rainy flowers could forever be covered in dewdrops. These flowers could also have a small chance of spawning more of the same type in different colors when crossbred on normal days.

Introducing different weather patterns in New Horizons could help give players more regular events to look forward to, as well as mix up the now-predictable weather that has present since the game was released. Weather-related DIY recipes would give players something new to collect, helping those who have already completed all the available content the game has to offer.
