Though it is primarily full of intense, action-RPG-style combat, Amazon Games’ MMO New World also includes a robust crafting system that allows players to harvest resources in the world, improve crafting skills like Blacksmithing and Smelting, and create their own early-game gear and tools. Though it is not as widely useful as Iron or Platinum, Silver is an important resource in New World and will be necessary for crafting gear, completing missions from settlements’ public boards, and smelting Gold. Players can find Silver Veins in all four starting areas of New World but will see it most plentifully in rockier, mountainous areas.

Players will need to level up their New World Mining skill to Level 10 to mine Silver Ore, and they will need a Level 2 Smelting Station to turn it into Silver Ingots. Players can get Silver Veins marked on their map after they level up their Mining skill to Level 35, which should make it easier to complete public contracts, craft with Gold, and create unique gear. Here’s how to get more Silver in New World.

Find Silver in Mountainous Areas in New World

Silver Ore can be mined in any of the starting zones of the Highlands in New World. Players can find Silver Veins in Everfall, Windswood, First Light, and Monarch’s Bluff. Of these, Windswood has the highest concentration of Silver Veins for players to mine. Players should seek out the Eldergate and Dankfur Hollow areas of Windswood, south of the main settlement. These locations are the most reliable for finding many Silver Veins quickly. Players should be able to enter the cave in the middle of this location and find many nodes to choose from.

If these areas are too crowded or contested by others, players may also have luck finding Silver Veins in Everfall, First Light, and Monarch’s Bluff. The Silver Veins tend to be concentrated in rockier parts of each major city. They are usually found near one another and respawn within 10 minutes or so. This means players can set up a camp nearby to transport Silver Ore they mine and travel between several nodes to farm the resource as it respawns.

Unlike Iron in New World, Silver Ore can be used in its Ore form if players are using it to fulfill any of the public missions at a settlement. Silver Ore is needed to craft special gear in these missions, and Silver Ingots won’t work. If players want to craft gear using Silver, they will need to smelt Silver Ore into Silver Ingots at Level 2 Smelting stations, which can be found in almost every settlement. Silver Ingots are used to craft some weapons and armor. Players can also use Silver Ingots to smelt Gold Ore into Gold Ingots, which will be useful for crafting better mid-game and late-game gear. Unfortunately, a player’s crafting levels and other beta progress won’t carry into the full New World release, so whatever players do with mining and smelting now will only be practice for launch.

New World is in closed beta and is available for PC.
