New World is an upcoming MMORPG by Amazon Games set for release on September 28 that emphasizes crafting and combat. New World puts players in the shoes of an explorer in a fictional mid-seventeenth century land modeled after the Americas. Players join one of three factions (Marauders, Syndicate, or Covenant) and team up with other players to gain control over settlements and explore the fictional world.

Not unlike other MMORPGs, New World features an in-depth gathering and crafting system. Players must become familiar with gathering and crafting to get the most out of some of the best class builds in the game. Players will need to craft items for certain questlines to progress further in the game. One of the more commonly used resources in New World is Stone. This guide details how players can find more Stone in New World and what they will use it for.

How To Find and Use Stone In New World

Stone is one of the simplest resources in New World, but it is also important in several ways. Players can participate in various town projects throughout their adventures in New World. These town projects involve large-scale activities players work on together to upgrade their settlement. Players must actively help the company that controls the settlement by completing tasks. Many of these tasks include gathering and crafting activities and require large amounts of Stone.

Stone is a raw resource that is turned into Stone Blocks and Stone Bricks. Although resources like Iron and Silver are highly coveted, Stone is a basic but necessary resource every player should have. Stone Blocks and Bricks are refined resources that are mainly used to upgrade parts of a settlement or fortress. By combining four units of Stone at a stonecutting table, players can craft a Stone Block used to fortify defenses. At Level 20, players can use four units of Stone and any type of Sandpaper to craft Stone Bricks as well.

Players will naturally learn about mining Stone during the introductory questlines. Players will eventually receive a pickaxe in the first hours of gameplay, which is used to mine Stone from boulders. Boulders can be found throughout the map, but there are certain areas where boulders are always available for mining. The most readily available boulder location at the beginning of the game is directly south of Windsward. Players should head south toward the settlement under the two smaller rock formations. Just outside the settlement are several bonfires in a circular pattern. All around this area are boulders from which players can mine Stone.

To mine Stone in New World, players must simply walk up to a boulder and press “E.” This activates the mining animation. Gathering Stone and upgrading settlements are some of the fastest ways to level up a character and ultimately reach the best builds in New World.

New World is available on PC.
