A brand-new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl gameplay video breaks down what players should expect from Nigel Thornberry’s robust combat abilities. The Wild Thornberrys Nigel counted among the first characters confirmed in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s reveal trailer. Developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs have unveiled several other fighters for the 2D brawler since then, including CatDog and April O-Neil of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame.

Though All-Star Brawl’s spiritual predecessor is indeed Nintendo’s Smash Bros. franchise, the Nickelodeon-based title does plenty to stand on its own two feet. For one, All-Star Brawl foregoes items and the special buffs they bring in favor of more intricate fighting mechanics for each character. Thus, every fighter in the upcoming brawler will feature up, mid, and down attacks that players can perform at three different levels of intensity – light, strong, and special. Some of the gameplay trailers and character deep dives have shown these moves in action. And now it’s another combatants turn to enter the spotlight.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Just a couple of weeks after confirming Ren & Stimpy’s inclusion in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, publisher GameMill Entertainment has unleashed another bit of fresh gameplay footage. The latest video positions The Wild Thornberrys’ very own Nigel Thornberry at the center of attention, showcasing why players who prefer close-quarters combat will want to keep an eye on this particular character. Nigel typically deals heavy blows capable of knocking back his foes. But don’t any of this fall you, mixing up his light, up and light, down attacks can result in some pretty smooth setups for juggling opportunities. His special moves could prove plenty useful, too, with a Neutral Special known as “The Worm” that allows him to effortlessly dodge attacks or pass through opponents. The character’s Up Special involves a smashing attack, “Whale Crash,” that sees him smashing onto the stage “with great force.”

Nigels appears to move somewhat slower than some of his fellow All-Star Brawl fighters; however, heavier characters across all types of fighting games are known to develop into fan favorites. Who’s to say the same won’t prove true of the nature show narrator.

Though a fairly recent listing on Nintendo’s website suggested Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl’s release date would fall on October 5, GameMill continues to close out its trailers with a nebulous “Available Fall 2021” tag. When exactly the fighter will release, thus, remains a mystery.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl hits Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on an unspecified date this fall.
