Nightwing’s Iconic Love Triangle Called Out in Pitch Perfect Lego Meme

In a great DC Comics meme, Nightwing’s iconic love triangle is turned into the perfect meme and recreated with Lego. DC publicist Clark Bull shared his take on the “distracted boyfriend” meme, which took over the internet a few years ago. Bull poked fun at DC’s best love triangle in his version, as a Lego Nightwing looks at Batgirl while walking with Starfire.

In the pages of DC Comics, Dick Grayson has been paired primarily with two different love interests over the years. He’s been paired with Barbara Gordon on a number of occasions, as the two Bat-Family members have become one of DC’s best couples. However, Nightwing has also been paired with Starfire, as the couple initially linked up during their days during the Teen Titans. In current continuity, it seems Nightwing has chosen Batgirl as his one true love, as DC seems to have settled the love triangle for now. But that hasn’t stopped the memes coming in from DC’s greatest love triangle.

On his personal Twitter account, DC publicist and Lego connoisseur Clark Bull shared a hilarious image poking fun at Nightwing, Batgirl, and Starfire’s love triangle. The image is a reference to the “distracted boyfriend” meme, which is a stock photo showing a boyfriend looking back at another girl as his current partner looks on in surprise. It’s safe to say Bull nailed his Lego version of the meme.

Honestly, what makes the Lego meme from Bull great is the choice of heads. The Teen Titans Go! Starfire has the perfect shocked face as her wide eyes and open mouth show off her true surprise. Meanwhile, Nightwing’s more menacing grimace is hilarious as he looks over at Batgirl. Lastly, Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl winks at the hero as she wears her iconic cape and cowl from her Batgirl of Burnside look. Altogether, the Lego recreation of the “distracted boyfriend” meme perfectly helps encapsulate the love triangle.

The DC Comics love triangle has been going on for decades, so while Nightwing might be with Batgirl now, there’s no telling what the future holds. However, whether you’re team Nightwing + Batgirl, or Nightwing + Starfire, it’s hard not to have a laugh at the Lego recreation.
