A new Nintendo Switch bundle coated in Mario’s signature colors has been unveiled, coinciding with today’s trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Players will soon be able to experience the Bowser’s Fury expansion for the first time and do so in style on a red-and-blue edition inspired by the iconic plumber.

Nintendo has provided a variety of special Switch consoles with special paintjobs over the past few years. 2020 saw the release of two Switch special editions, one to commemorate the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and another Fortnite Switch went global after initially being released in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Typically, these special consoles are released alongside an upcoming Nintendo product, and this Mario-clad console is no exception.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

On the same day as the unveiling of  Bowser’s Fury, Nintendo shared images of a new red-and-blue Switch for the world to drool over. The console and joy-cons are a bright red, while the joy-con grip shares the color of Mario’s overalls (with the Joy-Con straps bearing the yellow of his buttons). The bundle also comes with a Mario-themed carrying case and a screen protector for the console. However, the bundle does not come with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which has to be bought separately.

Meanwhile, the new trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury posted this morning along with this new Switch finally reveals what the Bowser’s Fury content will entail for Mario. The trailer showcased what appears to be a big, open sandbox area akin to Super Mario Odyssey‘s kingdoms, in which Mario and Bowser Jr. join forces to stop an uncontrollable and giant Bowser. With new cat-like stars to collect and a new power-up that turns cat Mario into a giant lion (with a hairstyle that resembles a Dragon Ball Super Saiyan, no less), it seems like the perfect kind of game to release alongside a special new Switch.

With every new Switch coloration released though, there’s always the burning question of the existence of the Switch Pro. It’s very possible that this could be the year that will see its reveal, as rumors surrounding it are only growing stronger. That comes despite the fact that Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser recently shot down said rumors. Whether or not the Switch Pro will come to pass, it’s clear that these uniquely colored Switch editions won’t stop anytime soon. Fans will be able to purchase both Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury as well as the new Mario colored Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021.
