On October 15th, Nioh 2 released a brand new story, Darkness in the Capital. This DLC takes place in Ancient Kyoto after the main character Hide is transported back in time. This DLC provides players with new weapons, armor, guardian spirits, and brand new yokai to slay. Alongside these additions are some new skills and items that will help in the battles against yokai plaguing the capital. The Flame Dragon technique is a ninja skill gained from defeating one of the new human bosses. Here’s how players can get their hands on it.

In some spaces of the Nioh 2 community, it is argued that magic based Ninja skills are often much more effective than any magic skills in the omnyo skill tree. The same might be said for this skill as it is incredibly powerful in battle. The Flame Dragon technique summons a large orb of fire above the players head. After a few seconds, the orb of fire will launch itself while homing in on the nearest or intended target. Once the spell makes contact, an enormous explosion of flame spreads from the epicenter. Enemies nearby might take splash damage, albeit pretty minimal.

How to Unlock the Flame Dragon Skill in Nioh 2

Among the many demon hunters and fighters within Kyoto, there is one Ninja clan that stands tall above the rest. Players have a chance to battle with the legendary Ninja from the Hyabusa clan. Players should navigate to the “Dragon Clan” sub-mission in order to fight with Ren Hyabusa, and receive The Art of Combat: Flame Dragon. In this mission, our character Hide is summoned by the clan due to their notoriety as the “demon who hunts it’s own kind”. Hide having piqued the Hyabusa’s interest, they seem to be invested in testing Hide’s mettle and finding out exactly how well Hide stands up in a fight. Once players start the mission, they will spawn in a large arena-like room with a shrine of Buddha. A voice belonging to Ren Hyabusa will start speaking, taunting Hide to step further in. Once players have reached the center, Ren will launch a surprise attack so be ready to block or dodge. Using a switchglaive for this fight, as well as slowing and defense buffing talismans should make it easier to survive. Ren is very fast and many of his techniques are extremely reminiscent to Ryu Hyabusa of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Don’t be afraid to put on the pressure without getting too greedy and the fight should go by pretty quickly. Ren will use the Flame Dragon technique himself so players will have a chance to see it in action providing it doesn’t kill them. Once Ren is defeated, The Art of Combat: Flame Dragon should be lying on the ground for the taking.
